Some good points there Aloys...especially the one about the cross hairs "not listening". I always give my scope a couple of "almost gentle" taps with the plastic handle of a screwdriver every time I make an adjustment. It assures that if things didn't move when the knob was turned, they will when tapped.

Cheers, Vince

o.k. Suze just had to chime in since we have the same sight. I bore sighted mine in the usual fashion (kitchen table out the back bay window, there is a funny looking knot hole in the fence out there that is easily distinguishable in the bore and any sighting device.) took it to the range and at 25 it took the usual 4x as many clicks to move 100 distance when I got close moved to fifty and put it a little high, since I am thinking of using this as a short range gun I used .75" . the one thing I did notice is if you use a black background the resulting groups were noticeably smaller. Not on the red-orange grid and diamond that I usually sight in on. My barrel is 22".

If you have a lockable rest at the range. You bore sight the barrel and scope at 25m and then set a large target up at 100m, aim for bullseye and lock the firearm in the rest so that it does not move and then adjust the scope to the point of impact and fire your second and final confirmation round. easy peasy.

like Vince I always tap the caps when adjusting a scope, my buddy/mentor when younger was a army armorer/ fitter n turner and told me to go 2 clicks too far then go back to take any play out of things. it works for me.

I was taught the same thing as Vince and ELvis also.

Hey Suz.. How about a follow up report on the Plumcrazy lower? Is the composite holding up like you want it to?

I swapped out barrels on the Varmint upper and put a post ban on since I needed the flashider for my Zombie gun...

Finished varmint rifle now with RRA 1:8 postban barrel

here is the Zombie gun

I found a deal on PCF lowers ($110) so I am ordering one to test out.

DawgD I don't regret the lower and it's held up well EXCEPT for the pivot pin. It escaped twice, but I found the detent pin (out of sheer luck) both times. The detent pin is plastic as well. What I did to alleviate the problem was time consuming but so far has worked. I trenched out the channel in the pivot pin just slightly and put a home made detent pin made of metal and slightly longer. The rear take-down pin works just fine without any special treatment. Push button pins would probably be the way to go, if they measure right. The upper fits tight (they're made to be that way) and has to be slapped down the first few times. It easily snaps in place now and is rock solid. I really like the trigger on it too. It seems weird to be made of plastic but i've put about 400rnds through it and no signs of wear anywhere on it.

I've been using 10rnd AR Stoner magazines, no problems, lock in, drop free.

I think you'll like it, especially the lightness of it. I put a 20" barrel on it and if I had a metal lower, I don't think i'd like it as much. It weighs 6lbs and 9oz without ammo. I don't remember what the lower weighs but I think it's about a pound lighter than a metal lower.

Your zombie gun and your varmint chaser look sweet! I don't go for flash hiders but when it's zombies you're after, you just gotta have some noise. It must be lighter with that barrel too. Easy to swing into action.

Hope you give all the details about your new build!!

Suz
