Pulled the trigger on this guy late Saturday afternoon right at dark. I hunted very hard this season and felt good to find this guy. By the time I had him field dressed it was pitch black out, as is the case with hunting in these mountains. No roads in this area, so getting him out was the old fashioned way, lots of sweat. I got him on public land, of which we have a lot of in this area. I was the only one hunting this drainage. Now he's not a monster corn fed Midwest buck, but for a North Idaho mountain buck, he's pretty decent. He was taken with my .257 Roberts with 117 gr. Sierra ProHunters, my favorite. Looking forward now to converting him to steaks and sausage, which I all make myself. I do apologize for the crappy field pic. My camera flash quit working after the first pic. Had hoped for some good pics. This old guy feels pretty blessed to have had at least one more fun and successful hunting season. Very Happy

Thanks for the comments guys. It was a fun hunt for sure. I've got him all cut now and in the freezer. The tenderloins were really good. Hope you all had a successful year. Very Happy
