Wow, what a big brother situation. Then I remember Chicago was in Illinois. I'll have to ask by friends there if they have their FOID!

Yep. We've had to deal with this for many years. By law, even if a single round of ammo is found in a vehicle without the driver having a valid FOID card, criminal charges can be filed.

Same here, they just call it a firearms licence.
Need one to purchase a firearm along with a permit to aquire for each firearm. Need one to purchase ammunition or reloading components, also must show when signing onto a range to shoot. You must also carry your list of registered firearms when you travel.
Oh and as firearm owner the cops have put you on their crimtrac system with murderer's, theives and pedophiles.
