Earlier today, I was chatting online with a guy I know who is in the ammunition manufacturing business in Florida.
He says brass, bullets & primers are coming through OK in most cases BUT powder is a constant & worrying headache to source.

This is an interesting take on the ammunition supply saga. Make sure you have a read of the comments from readers at the end of the article.

Why we have had an ammunition shortage

Some of those commenting must have wrapped their tinfoil round their necks too tightly & restricted the blood supply to their brains.

I was in a local gun shop yesterday. It's an old hardware store with a small gun shop that does a brisk business. I'm sure Gil knows the shop. The owner was on the phone with a supplier complaining about the lack of .380 ammo. He was saying that customers come in to buy a .380 and then leave without the gun when they find out there's no ammo to be had for them.

Yeah, really sucks for gun shops. It's starting to get much better in this area. Good supplies of .40, 9mm, 5.56 NATO and .45 on the shelves at WalMart - - and actually staying there. Always has been plenty of shotgun ammo. I even got bulk boxes of .38 and .22 Blazer ammo with some lucky timing.
Haven't had my reloading bench set up for a while, so I have a great supply of powders and primers on hand. If it ever got to the point where I was really low on factory ammo, I'd still be good to go.

PS- The people looking for .380's would really be better off with 9mm's
I love the Ruger LC9

. . . would be nice if it had an ambidextrous safety, but with practice a left-handed shooter can get used to this.

I talked with a small gun shop owner at a gun club board meeting this week. He told me that he visits a regional distributor every week and gun shop owners are limited to two bricks of .22 l.r. ammo. He lucked out on his last trip and got a whole case of .22 l.r. ammo. He limits his customers to a few boxes each to spread it around. We will get through this. All the best...
Gil

P.S. BigBlue, I know the shop you mentioned and it begins with the letter B.

So I went into a gun shop to look for .25 auto hollowpoints that a friend needs . . .

DEPOSIT DOWN on a like-new FEG PJK 9mm !!! WOOHOO !!!

For those not fortunate enough to have owned one - this is an exact (or near-exact) copy of the Browning Hi-Power. Can't wait to put this one through its paces !!! The shop was just logging this in; the guys didn't even know yet what the owner paid for it.

Photos will follow once I have this pistol in hand.

44marty,
I bought a pair of the same FEG 9mm handguns a few years back. What are they selling for now? I have not seen them for sale for a long time. Good choice. I had my gunsmith disable the magazine disconnect that requires a magazine to be in place to fire the pistol. All the best...

Gil, this one is like-new-in-box, so it went high at $400

I checked around online and some more recent sales were around $275 for well-worn examples.

PS- The serial number is 716XX I don't know where that puts its manufacture date or features.
