Does anyone here have this rifle or opinions on it. I am very interested min getting one as they are non-restricted in Canada. And I trained on the FNC1A1 (FN FAL Canadian variant) in 7.62mm .308 and also the A2, A3, M4.

I am not familiar with the restrictions in Canada and why this rifle would not be restricted. Are AR15s restricted? I just find a rifle that weights 8.6 pounds without ammo or scope is a bit much to take into the field to hunt with. I am used to 7.5 pounds for the total rifle weight with scope and ammo.

are you not allowed a M4 copy???? the norinco ones dont get any bad press. havent heard about the one you mention sorry...but .308 you could hardly go wrong. if semi or pump is out maybe try to find a BLR they are just as quick.

I know where there is a Browning Lever in .308 but don't supposed it would be easy to get into Canada ... but I could check.

I have a belgian Para-FAL. Easy to transport, but we have restrictions on the magazins used for hunting: for hunting with a semi-auto the magazin should be restricted to 2 rounds maximum.
Great rifle and .308 Win is a great caliber, however 1 remark: wear a helmet when you shoot a FAL inside a (hunting-)cabinet as the case will leave the rifle at rather high velocity and will try to attack you... Smile

Aloys, is there no restriction if a bolt-action? 2 rounds in the mag just doesn't cut it when you are engaging a sounder of hogs.

AR 15 "BY NAME" are restricted firearms in Canada. But the BCL102 and oddly enough the Stag 10 in .308/6.5cm etc are non-restricted. 10 lbs to 12 lbs is what the FN-FAL weights so it isn't an inconvenience to me. we have magazine restrictions to 10 rounds which isn't really a biggy for centre-fire but for bolts etc there isn't a restriction per se so long as the mag can't be used in a pistol.

Only a semi-auto has restrictions on its magazin for hunting. Bolt-, lever- or pumpactions have no limits on the size of the magazins.

And all have restrictions concerning minimum caliber.
All rimfire is excluded. The minimum caliber for hunting is 5,6 mm (for doves, rabbits, foxes etc. without limits on the energy level - for roedeer we should have minimum 800 Joules at 100 m). So the .22 Hornet is OK for foxes, rabbits and dove but you need at least a .222 for roedeer. For deer, wild boar, muffle... you need at least 6,5 mm and 2200 Joules at 100 m.
So your AR in 223 is not allowed on wild boar...
The funny thing is that we have no restriction on the upper limits, so I'm allowed to shoot a crow or a rabbit with a .375 H&H of even a .50 BMG (not that I'm going to try that... altough I did use the .375 H&H on roedeer, but only with to power reduced till .44 RM level, just to prove myself it could be done Smile )

shooting an animal with 50 MBG is like they weren't there. Most backstops can't handle a BMG.

Thanks for the info.

Stag makes good quality rifles, if I were in the market for a AR10, and I had the $$$, I wouldnt hesitate on a Stag AR10 if it were offered to me.

I love my Lefty ... it was a brilliant move on their part to start making them.

Stag did get in alot of hot water a few years ago for making unserialized rifles. Its now under new ownership, I assume their quality is still as good as before.

Very good. The lowers themselves are actually made by CMT (Continental Machine Tool) who also make Rock River, S&W etc etc lowers.

While I do not have this rifle, I do have an Australian L1A1 (FN/FAL clone) in .308 and really like it. I also have a CETME and a Springfield M1A and enjoy shooting them. It is a great caliber and very accurate in a semi-auto rifle. If you reload, finding the empty cases can be a challenge. So it depends what you prefer. All the best...

Well I ordered my Stag 10 in 308 a week ago last Friday and it arrived today. Unfortunately, I had to send it back as there were some problems with the paperwork. The manager of EastArms, Tre emailed me and requested I refuse the package and then he would expedite it back to me with the proper documentation. So I got to wait another week or so before I get my hot little hands on it. I will have about 3k into it with a new scope and base/ring set. I am looking at the bushnell engage 6-24x50 Deploy for it. Oddly enough, I have a bush 10x40 Mil Dot that I got a few years ago for a good price and the updated version of it is over double the retail on the one I have.
