What happens on the 4th and 5th Sunday at Ripley Tiks?

Hello Vince
The only shotgun competition there is on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month
and the 5th if there is one

OK Pete, if you need anything then let me know

OK...thanks mate. I haven’t fired a shot since March, so I doubt I could hit a clay at the moment, but it would be damn fun trying. I’m with Pete...I need to hit the range and use up some rimfire ammo, and .223, and .243, and 30.30, and .303, and and hahahaha

So.. another year

Guys RUOK?

I guess this COVID-19 situation affected a lot of us.

My family and I are ok, we are very hygiene concious bordering on germophobic so we are not usually bothered by normal contangious germs such as flu.
However, due to this recent virus, both my daughters are now working from home and I am officially evicted during working hours for being too noisy at home. Sad
Luckily I have a warehouse/workshop to go to Very Happy
Been "Hunting" a couple of times since the virus started, but have not been to the range at all since last February.
Lately I have caught the bug for 3D printing and have been prinitng a bunch of crap both useful and useless variety Rolling Eyes

So that is my update for now.

How are you guys doing?

I'm doing OK. I finally got the house painted so I can get back to my other projects. I have a batch of 223 in the loading area that need to be finished and stored. I have to finish my new powder magazine, and finish fire forming brass for the 257.

We are all good here Gelan...thanks mate. I haven’t been able to go hunting yet, mainly because my usual hunting patch is over the NSW border and that would necessitate a 14 day expensive quarantine in a hotel.

I have booked a bench at the SSAA Ripley range for Sunday 13 Sep at which time I plan on zeroing the scope on my Mk5 303 Jungle Carbine...plus check some loads I have put together. I want to confirm the viability of some Hornady 174gr RN projectiles and I purchased a box of Hornady 150gr SP that are supposed to shoot well in the Mk5.

Doing OK here! It's been pretty quiet. COVID messed up a lot of my plans but things are slowly improving. My daughter and SiL just bought 18 acres with deer, turkey, coyotes, maybe hogs, bear and gators too! Surrounded by woods, swamps and farms. I renewed my hunting/fishing license today!

I think you’ll find the shotgun range is still closed mate. Apparently they are upgrading the machines. My booking for the rifle range is 11:30 - 1:30, so hopefully I can catch up with you mate...I look forward to it.

Are you allowed to shoot on a property that size mate? Out here, the minimum size property you are allowed to hunt/shoot on is 40 acres. It sounds like you have hit the jackpot with your daughter’s new place.

Vince you have me puzzled
You must be a true Scot, a part pommie would have taken up the offer
and to say "I think you’ll find" sounds like you think I am wrong - me, wrong?
I'll just get a bench away from you if your shooting that muzzle blasting 303

Mate, I’d love to smash some clays with you, but without a range it’s a bit hard. Sad You will get an opportunity to teach me how to smoke ‘em once this bloody COVID has run its course and settled down.

Yeah, the Mk5 does bark a little mate...but they tell me it’s worse if the flash hider is removed. I’ll catch up at the range mate.

Things in Blighty ain't great - mostly down to opening up pubs & clubs again & the 18-30yo crowd completely ignoring requests to socially distance or even wash their hands.
Too many loonies spreading the "it's just mild flu" BS & claims that wearing PPE in shops & on public transport is somehow "repression".
Meanwhile I spend all my time worrying about somehow infecting my 90yo mum, as I have to do her shopping, laundry, most of her cooking & help her with personal hygiene.

I think "stressed to heck" might be a milder description of how I feel.

Vince Mate...sounds like in order to bust clays you will need to sit them on ground at 100 yards and let the MK5 rip untill you have dusted the chips good n properly....

Same here mate...it was good to catch up with you again. No luck with extra time...the next session was chockablock full, but that’s ok...I achieved, up to a point, what wanted to and it got me home at a respectable hour. I’m a little tender in the shoulder after shooting off about 60 rounds of 303 from the Mk5 though...little bugger boots a bit. One thing I did find is my powder choice, AR2206H although recommended by many, is probably a little quick. The loads I put together with AR2208 were more pleasant to shoot and didn’t show any signs of pressure whereas the AR2206H loads had a couple of hard extractions and a bit of cratering on the primers. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
