Seeing as we've had some interest in discussing trailcams I wanted to let people know about something fun. The Kodak Easyshare Picture Viewer. It is NOT a camera but simply a portable picture viewer. It takes SD cards and shows your pictures... think of it as a small wallet sized photo album showing as many picts as you can store on a mem card.

This is useful for trail cameras without video monitors, you can view your photos in the fields to determine camera problems or whatever. If your cam is close by your house you probably dont need it. My cameras are 60 miles away and that means $20 everytime I drive down to check them. I'd rather see what they are doing in the field rather than to return home only to discover a problem then have to drive back down to get the cam.

They normally retail for $100-150 but lately they are being closed out and you can find some smoking deals on them, as low as $20!

I've been trying to win one off Ebay but people are putting nasty shipping charges on stuff lately to beware the costs. Most are selling in the $25-33 range + shipping on top. After watching more than a few auctions go past what I wanted to spend, I did some digging and found amazon has a seller you can buy them for directly, a few bucks cheaper than the EBay ones after you figure in shipping. I just ordered one today so I'll pass on the links. If you keep playing the ebay game I think you could get one a bit cheaper, depends on how much you want to work to save $5 LOL.

Heres the amazon link:

Even though I bought two SD Flash Memory Cards the viewer is a great idea. It is very small and handy to carry into the field to check the photos. My memory cards finally arrived today. So much for newegg's 3 day shipping. I ordered it last Sunday and it arrived today, Friday. Actually it was the fault of UPS wierd routing. First the package flew from California and over my home to Columbia SC. Should have been routed to Atlanta so Columbia sent it to Atlanta and it passed me again because it should have been routed to my local UPS Distribution center in Thomson. It got to Atlanta and they turned it around and sent it to Thomson. So the late delivery was on the ZigZag routing of UPS. Anyhow the cards work great.

Are the pictures on the Bushnell SD card jpeg or another standard format files?

If so then both my HP pocket PC and Nikon S1 canera have SD card slots and would display the pictures for me which would be handy and save buying another display device or using the computer.

My Moltrie Game Spy 200 uses the SD Flash Memory Cards and the pictures are in .jpeg format.

I use the Moultrie camera, in fact I have 4 of them...I got a solar panel for them and it keeps the battery charged. I got 1 extra SD card for each one and when I go to the camera I pull the used card out and I view it back at the 4 wheeler which is carrying my laptop.

I buy my SD card at wally world better know as wal-mart same card as the ones you order....

I will post some pictures later...good shooting everyone...I really enjoy your pics.

I pulled my trailcamera and brought it home Saturday. It has 608 pictures on it and only lasted 1 week on the 5AH battery I had in it. Its been dead for well over a month now LOL, I just havent had the time to go get it.

Now that its home I'm going to modify the box I built for it a bit more and run some new tests. I also bought a solar charger and want to know how much it extends battery life by.
