any thing is better than useing the lee chamfer Tool to do it. there are those who will tell you to invest in a primer pocket uniformer as well but I never had to with the 223 brass. good luck

The crimp on the primer pocket is a total pain in the "lower rear portion" of the anatomy.

I "fixed" 200 5.56mm military cases and had to remove the crimp. Even broke a de-priming pin in the process of de-priming. Like Bushy I use a drill bit between the fingers. I use a primer pocket cleaner as a guage, to ensure the crimp is gone and to finish off.

It was a long boring job, but sitting in front of tv I didn't notice it too much.

I agree with the others....drop your load to the low point for the calibre and bullet in your manual and work up from there watching for pressure. Doesn't matter what primer you use...I have used Federal, CCI ans Vitavouri without any problems.

Wiley Wapiti-- I have a lyman crimp remover that goes in a handle that you can have if you want. I've gotten rid of all my 06 mil brass.I gave them to my nephew. I still have the crimp remover bit. Dave If you want you can email me see profile. Smile

Thanks guys, and thanks for the offer FIREBALL,but I bought a Lyman crimp remover from Midway and a Lee decapper which is geared for most sizes. I worked through about 50 rounds and it seemed to go rather well. The primers fit correctly and the rounds fired nicely, so I consider it a success. Being fairly new to reloading, I still like to take the time and ask first instead of just bulldogging my way in - you guys were my sounding board to confirm my request.

I use the Lyman tool without the handle and spin it in an electric drill. I can do 250 to 300 an hr. Been using it for years.

There in Finland was very cheap Canadian 30-06 tracers (DA-65 stamp)i. When we use them there begann tyres to burn in then dyke. When I was reloadig them. use cheap Swedish knife named Mora for taking crimps off.
