As a few of you know, I have been battling the issue for a new pistol for a while, I am a rifleman by blood. 1. I am a cheap bastard who rarely parts with money and 2. I also battled the wheel gun - vs- semi auto for a while. Well I finally won two battles with mysel, I talked my wallet out of some money and I convinced myself that semi-auto was the way for me. I got a really good deal on a S&W model 4006 .40 cal. I have been looking at the .40 for a while, but I was concerned about some of the polymer guns that are out there - safety and unsupported chambers etc....but it all seemed to really weigh heavily on the loading from progressive presses and loader error etc. I had cut my teeth on Colt .45's with the military and really liked the feel of the heavier weapon. This S&W will do the trick - it is SS, 4" barrel. fired it today and I am really impressed- besides, it was the first time in 5 years I was able to get the wife to go to the range with me.
Oh yeah, I also saw a cool bumper sticker today that read "Beware of dog, it eats what I shoot!"
Had to share the news with somebody who would appreciate my purchase.

Congrat's on the new pistol. The S&W 4006 is a pretty good pistol, was used heavily by a lot of law enforcement agencys. The Alaska State Troopers used Smith 4006's for a while, then switched to the glock 22. I prefer the 4006 to the glock, I agree with you, there is just something about the heft of steel that is confidence inspiring. Happy shooting!!

If you are interested and willing to pay actual shipping cost I have 25-30 rds. of factory WW .40 S&W cal rds. I will give you. I am on the other side of the mountains from you so if you have someone heading that way from this one I would hand them off.
