The place that they have the Hunting Ed Field Test here in my part of this state is littered inches deep of brass. I was totally appauled at the laziness and the lack of responsibility of cleaning up their spent brass and shells. So this was like "yep"
so much for packing in packing out discipline.

try reloading for an obsolete ppistol.. wouldnt be too bad if it was a wheel gun, but nooo its a flinger, so i spend more time worrying where the brass is hitting and not the lead..

Gee, you guys must be tighter than a fishes butt underwater, and thats water tight, they don't come any tighter than that. I reckon I'm no better though. I have .357 Mag cases that are 25 years old !!

I remember some years back I saw an attachment for a Walther OSP/GSP pistol. It is a cloth bag that attaches to the ejection port of the pistol and would catch each case as it ejected. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be too difficult to put something together that would do the same on other brands of autos. Even a simple deflector so they drop at your feet, or maybe a cloth tube that goes from the ejection port into a pouch/pocket.

I only have about 6000 .45ACP brass, and if I see even one one the floor at the club, I go after it like a $20.00 bill.
If I see two of them Vince, I think that I might pucker up. I'll have to check the next time that I see multiple brass on the floor. Very Happy

Eric

Now thats a damn fine idea my little Cherokee maiden. My mate and I recycled all of our split, cracked, worn out brass and got over a $130 for it at the scrap metal yard. The price of brass and lead has gone through the roof here in Australia....seems the Chinese are buying up as much as they can find for their industry.

Now here's a thought.........if each and everyone of us who hunt on public land carry a small bag and pick up a kilogram (2.2lb) of spent brass casings everytime we went out we could help fund our hunting/shooting activities and also do something for the environment. It might also help keep the environmentalists off our back. Very Happy

Might just open a new thread on this idea...thanks keetoowah.

Cheers, Vince

Only 25 year old brass? Heck I have some .250-3000 brass that dad was working with back about the time they adopted me. That was sometime in 1975. I still have it and for the most part is still fairly decent though I have started to cull out some with "funny lookin' marks" I thought I had a fair number of .45ACP cases with a few hundred and the same for .40S&W and 9x19mm. I now know that I am a piker compared to the rest.

And I would love to get my hands on a shell deflector for my .308Win CETME. Or just getsome spec's for one. I can fab something on break at work if need be, and buy it for scarp price. S0 long as I am not destroying a good shelf top. You can do some pretty neat things with 22ga sheet steal.
