I am having a really hard time finding the stock I want for a Ruger M77MKII. I'm looking for a maple stock that just needs a little sanding and finishing. I have looked at numerous sited, but I can't find what I want. I want a basic stock, no raised cheekpiece, thumbhole, etc. Can anyone help me out there?

Try midwayusa.com. If they don't have it they could tell you where to get it.

There's also gun stock kits that you can buy and make your own.
Take a look at gunaccessories.com. They have a pretty good selection

Here's some more sites you might want to check out.
gunstocksinc.com
gunstocks.com
boydsgunstocks.com
bullpupgunstocks.com
rifle-stocks.com
precisiongunstocks.com
gunstockwood.com

Have you thought about going to someone who makes stocks?????????????

That way you can get what you want................

Not all stock makers are high dollar$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you want a little nicer wood or want to replace a plastic piece with wood, look for someone in your area that has a stock duplicator. If your stock is broken into a piece or two they can sometimes glue or tape it back together for duplicating.

Local trap and skeet clubs might be able to help. They usually have a line on someone in the stock making business. Or atleast help direct you to a source.

The only place I've bought a stock from so far was Boyds, and I was pleased.

Thank you for the links d_hoffman, I will look into them.

I don't need a replacement stock for the rifle, but I really like maple. I was thinking about swapping the stock out on my 30-06 to a nice maple stock. I gotta find one with really good grain though.

Cody,

I have had very good luck with a company on d_hoffman's list of links called Great American Gunstocks. They have a wide selection that can be viewed online (http://www.gunstocks.com/) and a phone call will get you details on what they might have that may not be pictured. They do offer stocks in various stages of completion as well as an assortment of woods from which to choose and, from my dealings with them, usually deliver a stock grade that is somewhat better than advertised. They have always been extremely helpful and friendly to work with.

Good luck and enjoy making something special that you can enjoy and be proud of.
