LOL! Yep, we were typing at the same time, I missed the Uncle part.

Regarding dies, I like Hornady. Also have a number of RCBS.

The .45 ACP and .45 Colt are different cartridges, length and heads are different. However, you can load both with the Hornady dies and probably some other brands too.

Regarding the Lee press... IMO! A buddy bought one and pretty quickly found a used RCBS to replace it. I know folks like them but it didn't seem very heavy duty to me.

So does anyone know how I can find out if the Lee dies for 45 colt will work for ACP? That is what my uncle uses, Lee for his 45 colt.

Check Lee's website. Might try Midwayusa.com and look at the dies there too.

Cool thanks for the number, my uncle is calling on them tonight I believe.

I talked to him, and how cool is this, he said he isn't going to be reloading until summer. SO he said saturday he will sit down with me for a few hours and teach me all he knows and then the loader is mine to borrow until summer.

I think I can stock up on enough ammo in that time! Very Happy

Man as mentioned before uncles are the sh*t!!!

I find Internal ballistic programs like the Quickload gives a bit more info on reloading. And the program usually cost not much more than a good hard copy reloading manual.

Beside giving you the calculation on the theoretical velocity it also gives the figures of Pressure exerted. This gives a lot more flexibility when you have different type of powder or different weight of pellets than the ones stated in a book. It even lets you do calcs for odd wildcats if the fancy strikes Very Happy

Having said that, you still have to work your loads up (or down in subsonics) in a safe manner. Just because some book says that this or that load is THE unbeatable load, it may not function well on your gun. You still have to do the hard (but fun) work in working out the load for your particular lightning stick Very Happy

Ah forgot..

IMHO, it is better to fork out a bit more for a robust press like the RCBS RockChucker than a (flimsy?) LEE. Although some may say to the contrary, I find that the more stable/robust the press is, the more consistent is the result of the work.

I know this is like 1000 question day, but you guys told me to ask!

I was wondering about bulk rounds, are any of them worth a damn or are they just going to eventually tear up my gun!

If there are some out there that are okay just for practice, where, what, and how much is a good price per round.

Also are lead ball rounds good in a auto?

I know some total noob questions that you have heard a 100 times just thought I would ask you guys that are following since you have been a great help thus far!

As far as bulk factory rounds are concerned. I haven't purchased factory for about 20 years. If you mean bulk bullets for reloading I use Remington, Hornady. Speer and Sierra...
