Deer Sniper: thanks for the pics and commentary. I look forward to seeing the finished product and results.

Of all the reasonably priced revolvers, the Ruger Blackhawk/Vaqueros represent one of the great bargains. While not nearly as extensive, I've had a few Vaqueros, early models, modified, some for performance and some for aesthetic value. All have been satisfying and have earned apermanent places in the safe and get used often.

gelandangan,

Thank you for the great compliment and I'm really glad you liked the write up...

I will be doing write-ups as time permits and I and just think to grad the camera when I start the beginning of a project....

Handloader,

thank you, glad you liked the write-up and pictures...

I have been shooting handguns since the mid 1970's and have shot well in excess of 100 deer since then, not to mention wild hogs, coyotes, armadillos and wild turkey...

My arthritis has gotten too bad for me to be able to enjoy my handguns anymore and my doctor told me that my already brittle bones could easily break from the recoil of the guns. So sadly enough, I'm selling all my handguns and this 44 mag. is the last one to go and I just completed it 2-weeks ago...

I will be building a 240 Weatherby for my wife on a Remington 700 action and have thought about doing a write-up on that gun as well if that is something you guys would be interested in seeing....

God Bless,

D/S

Hey Vince sorry about taking so long to respond.
You used to be able to do so before '96, not legal but if you had permission from the property owner it was ignored. After the '96 fiasco it became a definate no no and then after the handgun buy back I think we were lucky they let us keep any. Our police minister at the time wanted us all fingerprinted and left with 22's!
Even the SSAA NT mob were going to agree with it until the members revolted.
It's a sad day when you have to use you big game rifle to finish off an animal that could have been done with a handgun!

Sadly enough there are many so called "pro hunting" and "pro shooting" groups that have done similar things in the past in many countries.

Hi Deer Sniper,

Beautiful work on the Ruger, must be nice to have the tools and machinery (not to mention the skill involved) to do that kind of work. I just filed for Disability at Social Security a couple of months ago because I can't find suitable work, (two ruptured disks in lower back, arthritis everywhere, emphysema, and athsma). I do like working on firearms and looks like I'll have the time to do so, though I'm nowhere as good as you. But I like to learn new skills and will be trying a little "smithing" to keep busy. Keep posting articles like this and I will always have the inspiration to try something new!

Thanks for all your efforts! Bow

M. G.

M. G.,

sorry to hear about all your health problems. I'll add you to our growing prayer list. God Bless you Sir...

I'll be posting the building of my wife's 240 Weatherby as soon as I get my reamer back from being reground...

I don't mind helping others when I can and if you have any questions concerning the building of rifles or hunting handguns, don't hesitate to just ask....
