Preparing for this Christmas break, I am loading my 45-70 with some of projectile cast by an 85 years old mate of mine.

It is 100% wheel weights 460 gn HOLLOW POINT 0.458 diameter..
And the hollow part is a gaping 1/4 inch diameter with 1/2 inch deep..
I am planning for it to go at about 1450fps.

I wonder how this would TEAR up Twisted Evil some inedible Ozzian feral pests..

Muahahahahahahaha Twisted Evil

Be wewy wewy qwayet ......

Muahahahahahhahaha Twisted Evil

PS,

I'm like you...wow! That's a chunk of lead. I just had a vision of putting a little C4 in the hollow point! I'd probably blow the breach out of it!

@Mike
I'll be chucking out these bricklets out of a H&R Buffalo Classic in 45-70.

@Cary
I am tempted.. very much so to put a 22 short or a flobert cartridge on it backwards..
The theory is when it hit, the primer will detonate and force the hollow point to expand violently..

It looks like the would be 547 -550 grin bullet without the hole. I bet that will expand quite a bit and leave a gapping hole in what ever it hits!!

Gelan,

If you try that (22 insert), make sure you take lots of photos. This has my interest! As a scientist, my favorite saying is "better living through reckless experimentation". Very Happy

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!! Twisted Evil

Mais oui .. of course .. pasti ..
IF I worked out some courage to do it, I would.
What I am scared of is IF it come back to me.. having the 22 blow when hitting the target... Yuck

But then again..

Twisted Evil Muahahahahaha !!! Twisted Evil

At one point a friend and I toyed with the idea of taking some of the Speer .45 cal, 200 gr, JHP "Flying Ashcans" and filling the nose with black powder topped with a musket cap... I never did have the nerve to try it.

I did try some of the manufactured .38 Special loads that came with a primer seated in the nose. Pretty much a total wast of time. As far as I could tell the primer failed to go off unless you hit something pretty solid, like a 2x4.

Pumps if I put a 22 on the hollow of these pellets, I think it WILL go off..
Muahahahaha!!!

heck, the rim will sit right on the edge of the hollow..
But yea I think this will be a waste of time..

Viz pellet hit target at 1100fps .. then bang!! the 22 goes off.. and what it does? it brakes the "mother ship" (Muahahahaha!!) in a hurry..
while in the same time the 22 shell is pushed into the target, the "mother ship" (Muahahaha!!!) would then just follow at a leisurely fashion..
and maybe, knocks down the target..

Might works as the crush zone on a newer design cars.. you crush the car so it absorbs the impact energy and protect the passenger..

OTOH, I am looking at machining some cones to fit onto the hollow, and YEAH!! it will force the hollow to expand.. YEAH!!
MUAHAHAHAHA!!! Twisted Evil

I have seen and handled these monsters and believe me when I say...they are the evilest, meanest, most lethal and magnificent looking cast bullet I have ever seen. Hitting anything smaller than say a dog will (should) create instant red mist...or a pile of hamburger mince.

Keep us tabbed Gelan...I reckon they are gonna be awesome.

Cheers, Vince

I have been serving on the shop counter for the last few days.. and it has really got into me.

"are you sure that there are no more of those in the back?" - If I have more don't you think I would bring them out already? Confused
"can you tell the courier to send them here faster, I need them yesterday.." - If you need them yesterday, you should buy them last week! Confused
"How much is that $99 item?" - Duh? wtf
"I bought this on eBay, could you show me how to use it?" - Yep, sure.. Cool

I have to get away.....
I cant wait to go.. only two more sleep..
I'll be driving up when Santa is going back to North Pole and freeze.. Very Happy

So I will go and KILL something

Muahahahahahaha!!
