Donut Slayer, I wish you all the luck! Would love to be able to go with you. If you don't make it this draw, don't stop trying.

Thanks for the well wishs guys and gals. I've been planning a elk hunt to this area for several years, but hopefully I'll draw a mule deer tag. I have a buddy that just retired that has built a cabin about 30 minutes away I can stay at for free. Just bring my food and gas and I'm all set. I did scout the area this past summer and found that mule deer are everywhere. I was able to sneek up on a nice buck in velvet right at the hunting area. And I saw numerous deer when we were 4 wheeling. Hopefully they will still be there this fall. Here is a pic I took:

and here is another pic of the area:

Come on Suz, the more the merrier. Here is another pic of that mulie. The story is my boy and I are hiking/scouting when he see's this mulie on the other side of a valley. We stalk it from about 500 yards to within 25 or so, then it spots us and bounces away. This pic is with my digital camera with max zoom. The deer is about 500 yards away:

Ok guys and galls, help me out here please. Whats this with having to be put in for a draw?
In the uk, as long as we have permission to shoot deer from the landowner, within theory, no holds barred, seasons depending. But most serious stalkers only take out inferior stock, except if there are an abundance of medal heads, a major over population, or invasive, non-indiginous species of deer.

mulies population has been on the decline for a while. instead of stopping the hunting, you put in for a lottery system. its a way to ease hunting pressure. elk you can buy an over the counter license.
