Yup...Knew about that when I mounted my scope years ago (1992). I did it a bit differently. Being the mechanic I used Prussian Blue and blued the scope tube. Mounted the scope and rotated it ever so slightly. Removed the scope and checked the rings for bluing marks. Did some adjustments and repeated until I had 85 to 90% contact. Cleaned the scope tube with alcohol and mounted. Adusted the scope for eye relief and leveled the scope and locked'er down. Haven't moved the scope sense.

You are absolutely correct, but only if you don't shoot it. Laughing I did Loktite (222) the allen screws, but nothing else.

The advantage is that I know how to lock things down so they don't com loose...

I dunnow. Part of maintaing a machine is not taking for granted things won't come loose with use. Esp if ya use it a lot. I use 222 too and depending on the app stuff still can come loose. Part of stuff not coming loose is the application and materials- i.e. - the gaps between the surfaces to be bonded and other factors such as tortional/cantilever stresses and shear. Purple loc-tite is good stuff, esp on coarse threads. I got's lot's of it too- scored some large bottles from a bud at a helicopter plant. Having 3 motorcycles it gets used a bunch!

When I commercialize my rings you'll all see you don't need a monkey bar or loc-tite to keep scope rings tight forever.

Just you wait. Insane

Hey D, if the ring base cross-bolt 'll handle 60+ rounds of .300 WM per sitting w/o coming loose I'll be your first customer.

Wish I had some $ so I could at least get the Burris Zee Sig rings I want...I'm so burried in bills right now it's gonna be a while, so.... blah.

Looking forward to finally putting away my allen wrenches someday!

I spend my free time designing things to improve the sport but need a HAAS Super Mini Mill 2 first, which I am slowly saving for.

When I make them if they come loose keep them and I'll refund your money. Sounds like a good warranty?

I hope you have only honest customers. Otherwise you might as well give them away free in the first place, it will save you postage for the refunds.

Reminds me of a George Burns routine about selling shirts. He shipped boxes of 13 shirts to previous buyers who hadn't ordered them, billing them for a dozen. His logic was that they would keep the shipments and pay for the orders, so that they would get the free shirt.
He got a raise because sales were up.
. . . . . .

Then the shipments started coming back . . . .

you guessed it . . . . with 12 shirts in the boxes.

What size rings you need? 30 mm or 1" I have some extra 30 mm High, Custom Steel signature ZEE Rings, matte black.

That is why you make the bill out charging 12 but the packing slip lists

Quote::
12 Shirts
+ 1 Free Shirt with purchase of 12 shirts

So you don't bill them but you still have a record of the free shirt. Laughing

Mind you, over all 95% of people are trust worthy. And the small amount that are not you make them fill out a form listing the make & model of the gun & scope, the load used in specific, the mount used, say they used the instructions and the tools used to mount it. Why? For analysis of fault and most dishonest people I find are too lazy to fill out a form.
