I just ordered a few things from the Lee Factory online store. They have really good prices, so i figured what the heck. Well, when I reviewed my order and charges before clicking the " Submit" button to finish the order, the UPS charges were at $7.85. Shipping charges were Based on my address info and zip code during the process. But, after I clicked the "Submit" button and the payment went through, the invoice charges to my credit card showed $12.95 in shipping!!!! Mad
Yes, I sent them an email on this as soon as it happened.

Thanks for the feed back as I was considering purchasing some stuff from them and I hate hidden fees so to speak. Anyway a company can make extra money I guess although everything I have heard makes me believe that Lee is a fair company and it was probably a mistake. Either way good luck and I hope it works out for you.

maybe just phone in the orders with Lee. Then you know it all upfront and can tell them to either forget it if they up the shipping after they process your payment that way.

I was thinking it was a mistake, but then again, the sight has been up for a long time, and the process many transactions on it I'm sure. Maybe they take care of it if someone notices and brings it to their attention, and just pocket it if the customer doesn't notice it...?? Just a thinking out loud you know. Cant prove anything except the shipping charges going up, after payment processed.

You know thats interesting. I have a friend that owned a little market in the town I grew up in and he was telling me one time that he knew a guy who had a hardware store and for years he had this broom sitting up by the counter on the customer side. Cutsomers would come in and if the amount of stuff they were buy was big enough he would charge them for that broom and they would leave and never notice that they were being charged. This went on for years before a single customer even noticed so this guy probaby made several hundreds of dollers over the years on completely clueless customers. I am thinking that Lee is not doing this intentionally but I could be wrong.

dan1dad...I have purchased from Lee on line and never been charged with a hidden fee. CALL THEM by land line and complain.

So have I Bushster, and I agree, a phone call is going to get through faster than an e-mail and you can get it straightened out. Have your invoice number at hand and phone them, otherwise they will ship to you before your e-mail gets any attention. Your bill will be harder to resolve if you wait.

I planned on calling them, but they wont answer until Monday. Funny you should mention a call will beat the shipping, cause its already shipped according the LEE and UPS. But I'm still calling them.

just reading the shipping statement from LEE. Its saying $12.95 shipping for .04 pound package. no hazmat stuff either. I certainly hope they messed up, or I am never ordering from them again.

I have ordered many times from Lee through the years and never had a problem. They have always been great to deal with. I look at it this way, their prices are "very good to great" and if I was to buy locally I would have to pay shipping which would be included in the cost, so if I want it I buy it I will no matter the cost of shipping, ... Shipping is just a cost of doing business, ............... sooo what!!! Smile Why complain about a couple of bucks.......??????? Smile I look at it ths way, if a couple of bucks break the bank then I should'nt even think of ordering in the first place!!!!! Like Bushy, they have always been fair with me... Smile

you know 1895ss, I could have bought it locally, for the same price that Lee sells it. It would have been a 30 minute drive there and back. The cost and " a couple bucks" is not the problem. Its the way it happened. And if everyone just blew it off everytime they were overcharged a couple bucks, then it would happen all the time. And as the saying goes, a dollar here and a dollar there, and pretty soon your talking a lot of money.
So I dont know about you, but Ive been in business for a long time, and when you enter into a contract with someone, and yes, a purchase is a contract, you usually agree to the terms before you pay the money. If you bought that nice bike of yours in the picture and then found out after you signed on the dotted line they tagged on another 700 dollar handling fee, would you just smile and not worry about it? cause it would equate to about the same if not more for that bike.
Its not the money, its that it happened. I can afford it, not the problem. And I started this post to let others to look out. I didnt say they did it on purpose. Im calling Monday to find out why the change. Maybe its UPS that did it. Many websites link to the shipper and its the shippers system that figures the prices. Maybe its s glitch in the system. But as you insinuate, I'm not crying over a few bucks. I'm just pointing out it happened, it shouldn't change after you click pay, and I want to find out what the deal was.

my Dad told me the story of a stock n station agent up in the North island many years ago who upon stocktaking relized they were down a box of fencing staples(about 15kgs) not a cheap item at all probably 2-$300 at todays prices. they didnt know which of thier customers they forgot to charge for them so they billed EVERY account. My grandfather was the only one of thier customers who queried the bill and didnt pay for the item all thier other customers just paid and said nothing.
good on you for noticing that there is a problem with the bill I look forward to reading the outcome of your phonecall.I suggest you ask to speak to the accounts department and then ask person for thier name and ask them to spell it. they then know/think you are writing down what is said and will watch thier p's and q's.

Elvis, some time back I had the local phone company do something similar. I got a bill and a nasty letter threatening to stop my service unless it was paid. When I called them I realized that they'd sent that same letter to everyone they could find with my name, or similar. Turned out it was for someone who had lived in a place I'd never even heard of. I told them what I thought of their tactics and haven't heard any more about it.

Wow, I've never had a problem with LEE, I'm willing to bet that the charges were tacked on by the 3rd party credit card processing handler. LEE has always been good to me and even with warranties, they always came through.

I got an email from them early this morning. No explanation, just said they were refunding the over charges for shipping. That was it. Since they responded so quickly by email I did not call them, but I did reply back to the email asking what happened to cause the over charges. But from the curt response to my email i get the impression they dont want to talk about it, for whatever reason. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything. But they made it good so Im fine with it. I will still just keep an eye on it in the future. I like LEE products, and if I do order and not drive to the store to get what I want, I will watch out for it. just in case.
