To be honest, as a Hi-Point owner I really enjoyed the updates. I always feared it being a "cheapie" that it would be prone to breakage so I dont shoot it a terrible amount... but in light of your experience I think I'll take it along on plinking trips more often. I will say the Customer service at Hi-Point really goes the extra mile to help out when you do have a problem.

DallanC: Hi Point, made in the USA, guaranteed for LIFE. There is a parallel with Kel Tec, another inexpensive line of firearms, made in the USA, guaranteed for LIFE.

I've talked to CSRs at both companies and the party line at both is to shoot em often, return if there is a problem and don't be concerned about longevity. This past year we sold several hundred Kel Tecs of various configurations and had two to return to the factory; both came back within two weeks, one fixed, the other replaced. $0.00. For comparison, our return ratios are higher for Ruger, Springfield and Kahr.
