I used a similar stock on a Mauser. Totally love the feel of it.

I put a new 8mm Mauser barrel on it, always wanted to see what the round could do with a new barrel after shooting so many mil-surp rifles of that caliber. It's sweet and very accurate and pleasant to shoot. The stock is weird at first but just seems to fit you so well that you think all rifles should have this shaped stock, it's made for comfort. Your's looks like it might have a bench rest type fore-stock shape?

It is not full on bench rest fore end. Has enough of a flat (2 1/4") to sit well in a bag and hold the bipod well but not too big to hold onto bare handed.

It has been a busy week. I pulled the .243 barrel off of the Mauser action, spun the .308 barrel on and finished reaming the chamber to headspace. Waiting for the stock to arrive to fit and finsh that part of the job. I ordered some PPU 147 FMJ ammo to break it in and have the brass from that for reloading.

The R-25 was delivered last night. It is as awesome as I expected it to be. Now it is raining cats and dogs and will be a few days before I can get it to the range. It will get a thorough cleaning and lubing and perhaps a Geiselle or RRA NM 2stage trigger put in it. The factory trigger is 6#. I may try smoothing it up a bit first. 6# is a bit heavy for fine target work but a little extra in the field is not a bad thing.

I have scoured the internet for R-25 load data and see that it matches what I had as good loads in the bolt rifle. I will do initial break in/sight in with these loads and see how they group and cycle the gas gun. Syrac gas block is in the shopping cart waiting for check out. A one piece PEPR type mount is inbound too.

(cough cough) I might be getting a little too sick to go to work (cough cough..)

Dawgdad, I feel your pain and the draw to spend time on your new projects. Waiting to hear how the fruits of you labor shoots.

Looks like fun! I like that fluted barrel. Are you getting your stock from Stocky's? they've got a sale right now, was thinking of upgrading to a new stock on one of my rifles just because of the sale, (and it's fun to do).

Looking good DD. Wish we could get custom stocks out here as cheap as you guys can get them. I am actually thinking about having a go at building my own using a quality Australian hardwood like Jarrah or Ironbark.

I lack the patience to be a good woodworker.

Stock shipped from Boyd's today...

A cleaning and lubing of the R-25 took 10 ounces off of the trigger.

Coyotes will need to watch out around here when I get this dialed in.

We are getting down to the fun part now.

R-25 is scoped up and relatively zeroed with 65 gr. Vmax load while breaking in the bore and dialing in the scope with the first 20 shots. I am thinking I will need to get the Syrac adjustable gas block to really get it tuned up right. No overrides but it felt over gassed with a load that was not a max load in the bolt gun.

The Mauser has yet to be shot but it is close.

I had to open up the barrel channel using a piece of copper pipe with layers of sand paper. I laid out some reference points to get a free float and sanded to them and followed that up with the red lipstick to find any high spots. No red marks but I cannot get the dollar bill under the barrel yet and I think I want to bed the action lug.

I had to put it all together though and it looks great.
