It had to happen, especially if the ANTIs have managed to infiltrate these media giants by means fair or foul.

I make it a point to never post any pictures of my firearms anywhere other than on here. I suppose even this could be a problem because pics can be copied by anybody and scanned for information. I note that when I open The Nut, my browser tells me that the website is not secure. I assume this means it is “http”, not “https”.

We just need to be careful to ensure that when we take a pic of our firearms that no information is visible, especially serial numbers...or anything else that can identify our location. I wonder if the metadata for the original pic is still available to someone who copies the pic...does the original data get copied as well? Maybe our resident computer gurus can help with this.

Correct. To fix this I need to register a SSL certificate. This needs to be updated quarterly by the webhost and usually costs $50... which x 4 is way more than the normal web hosting.

Whats idiotic, is you can get free SSL certificates with whatever spoofed info you want in it... so whats the point of browsers / sites requiring SSL to be "secure"? Because it really isnt.

Yes, cover serials with a piece of tape, or blur it in a photo manipulation program.

The "original" picture will transmit its meta data, so it does copy. My internal software resizes images to a max size and I think the EXIF data gets removed. I'll have to double check that.

I've saved out more than a few peoples hunting pictures, gotten the EXIF meta data and discovered GPS coords of where the picture was taken lol.
