Trucker Drivers: You're Jobs are Next!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems that our political leaders are now moving against American truck drivers, who will be forced to compete with Mexican over-the-roaders working for about 1/4 of the pay. The Bush administration intends to further weaken the US middle class by allowing about 1,000 Mexican truckers to compete on our roads as a "test". Just wait until the doors are opened wide for the rest of them.

Listen to the story by turning on your speakers and going here:

www.npr.org/templates/...Id=8286067

I wonder how many people will respond to this by saying, like UAW wokers, that those fat-cat truck drivers having been living high on the hog for too long anyway, and it's about time someone forced them to live on Mexican wages.

Bush the senior started the ball rolling, Clinton signed NAFTA into existence, and Bush the lesser just keeps on truckin'. Just another example of how our leadership is forcing the middle-class to it's knees. Will your job be next? Or the better question, WHEN will your job take a hike?

I would care less about unions, but I am extremely opposed to mex truck drivers in my country. And NOT just for safety reasons.

Very Happy Not to get into it about Unions, But, I worked 30 yrs. as a Teamster, and I guess I'm one of the few Truck Drivers that wasn't making $100,000 a year sitting on my butt. I retired 3 years ago at $18.00 an hour. 40 hours a week. I'm not aiming this at any one, or their commits, but just wanted to say my Peace before the stuff starts flying...LOL Very Happy

So, if you don't like what those politicians are doing why are they still in office? As far as I can see the only way to get them out is to vote the Libertarians in. I keep trying but there are just too many people who think if they elect "the other party" it will get better. They have had 200 years, how long will it take before we reject the two party system and return to the republic that we started with? I wonder how many here are even registered. I also wonder how many who are registered actually take the time to vote.
We just had the first ever (in our state) all mail in vote held in Seattle and it wasn't even a real vote. We got the chance to express our opinion in an "advisory vote" on the reconstruction of a road in our area. The City planners want to spend 7 billion dollars to replace an above the ground roadway with a tunnel instead of using the 2 billion that we already have to replace the road with the same kind of above ground roadway. I can't see any reason to spend the extra 5 billion dollars for a tunnel. I like driving by and being able to see the scenery!

I don't want to start anything on here, or upset anyone, bet here is my .02:
I think that since we are in America, we speak English. Since we are in America, we give the Americans fair treatment. Since we are in America, Americans should have more rights than the illegal immagrants. Our government should focus more on American jobs, not outsourcing. It may be cheaper, but it puts Americans out of work. People wonder why our economy is so poor????? Use your head. If we send our jobs overseas and into differant countries, then hire illegals to work for a fraction of the price doing the jobs in America, how does this work in our favor? The government is giving "free passes" to illegals, giving them free health care, housing, money, and helping them get employment. What does the government do for Americans? We have to jump through hoops in order to see the light at the end on the tunnel. This is the one major issue that upsets me most. Now that I'm done ranting, I'm going to go and play with my guns.
