Hi, everybody, and thanks to Bushmaster for the big welcome! Makes a feller feel right to home!!
I just bought my first inline and would like to know if anyone can tell me some performance figures on them. Been ml for many years, but had to go inline so I can use a scope, but don't know much about them. Will greatly appreciate any help I can get!!

Good data on the Hodgdon.com website.
In my 50 Cal I like to use Triple Se7en pellets (2 50gr pellets), Remington Kleanbore Muzzleloading 209 primers, and a Hornady sabot.
Welcome aboard!

Welcome Vint2. You didn't happen to mention the caliber of your smoke stick. I have a CVA Magbolt .45 which I really like.

So far the best bullets I've tried in mine are the Dead Center Sabots. Good accuracy and the bullet design actually reminds me of a high powered centerfire rifle. I shoot the 195gr with the .357 diameter bullet which is a boat tail with a polymer tip. They are available online at Cabelas.com.

The powder I use is 100gr of American Pioneer Powder. It doesn't stink like a lot of the rest and you talk about easy clean up... most of the time I just use a damp patch and the bore comes out nice and clean.

I haven't tried a heavier charge of powder with these sabots yet. I can load up to 150gr so I have a little experimenting yet to do.

Stay away from the green sabots. They leave strings of plastic in your bore requiring cleaning after only a couple of shots. Also, the Power Belt bullets are junk IMO. I tried them and I had no accuracy at all.

Every gun is different so don't be afraid of experimenting with different bullets and powders. Good hunting and God bless.

Sorry for the oversite! I use a 50 caliber, and the new rifle is a CVA Wolf Magnum. One of my rifles is a Cabelas caplock and it will not handle sabots, so have to use lead bullets.
Dillon C, just became aware of grief in your family, so our prayers go out for you and your family.

vint2, also try cva.com they list ballistics for muzzleloaders there also and go even higher with powder charges if you're interested.

Hey Vint2. You said that you have an in-line CVA right, so you should use sabots. When using lead bullets, be aware of the twist. If you have at least a 1:28 twist, which I'm sure you do in that new CVA, I wouldn't recommend lead bullets for accuracy sake. They like a slower twist.

CVA recommends powerbelts but, like I said in an earlier post, they're not good. I couldn't keep them on target no matter the powder charge. They acted like the bullet was too small for the bore and wobbled going down it causing my inaccuracy.

For that .50 caliber I would try the 240gr or 260gr Dead Center Sabots. Another sabot that I would try is the 250rg T/C Super Glide Shockwave bonded bullets.

In your old gun, you're best to stick with the old round ball. A friend of mine has used them since I can remember with 80gr of powder and he's very succesful with it.

Good luck and God bless.

What? You need an excuse? Ok here's one, the sun is shining. Yet another, I have all of these targets with no bullet holes in them. And how about, I'm suffering from accute gun powder smoke deficiency.
