Joe,

I just typed in "Pro-Abortion" and on the first hit has a definition of:

Quote::
Pro-abortion is the belief in the right to choose to terminate a fetus (fertilized embryo). Pro-abortion is also a movement, which fights for the rights of women to have a choice to end unwanted pregnancies.

Which seems to be a common theme, "to end a unwanted pregnancy" which makes it a form of birth control in my opinion. As its a mean to stop having a child you didn't want which is what birth control is for.

Dimitri

If were offering opinions on it, I view birth control as a means of PREVENTING pregnancy and abortion as a means of TERMINATING a pregnancy. If abortion is used as birth control then I can see where morality issues arise (hell, that even bothers me). I think we're very close to debating "what the meaning of 'is' is" here....

The pro-abortion folks like to call the unborn a "fetus"
Call the unborn what they really are "Babies", and the reality of the act that goes with an abortion, takes on a whole different tone.

I get what your saying Joe.

All I'm saying is that if a girl doesn't want to get pregnant there are alot of options other then getting pregnant then going to get a abortion to "terminate" the baby.

Even before a girl has sex with a man, no matter if there is a condom or not, she can take the pill everyday if she wants to prevent having a child, or she can if she cannot be bothered to remember to take a pill every day, she can simply take a needle which lasts for 6 months. The needle can be taken for 18 months, then a 6 month "off time" then another 18 month cycle.

I agree Crackshot, people now a days are always in someone else's business instead of minding their own.

Observations: if the legal definition were to be, for example, that life begins in the 2nd Trimester and, therefore, the unborn baby is under guarantees of life, then it becomes an issue wherein intervention is needed to protect the baby. If it is decided that life begins only upon birth, a different set of parameters is in place. I want to see a legal decision relative to when life begins. In the interim we collectively will approach the subject based on ethics or personal morality positions.

With respect to others opinions, my personal morality and belief system implies an obligation to poke my nose in other people's business when it is a matter of life or premeditated death. Hence, I press for national discussion and a legal decision on when life begins. Hence, I oppose Roe v Wade and believe Trimester Abortion or Partial Birth Abortion will be overturned and outlawed*.

There are thousands of married couples wishing to adopt and they willingly pay a range of expenses to the woman that wishes not to keep a baby. But, the supply of unwanted newborns available for adoption is very limited. It is a matter of logic, it seems to me, to allow or legally mandate pregnancies to go full term* and give the gift of a child to parents that will cherish and care for them. How could this be objectionable?

Handloader,

I agree, adoption is a good alternative to abortion, as there are many couples who cannot have a child of their own and will be able to care and raise the child properly.

Sounds like we agree, at least for the most part...

Except for the "poking the nose in other peoples business part"...

I devote enough time to dealin with my own business, I really don't wanna deal with someone else's....regardless of the morality involved. As long as you don't encroach on my rights ....it's none of my business WHAT you do.

First of all you will never get the people of any country, yours, mine or any other, to agree on a legal definition, at least not for long. Things like that have a habit of being challenged and changed over and over in our courts with the change of every Gov't if nec.

The thing about discussing a subject like this is that opinions vary from one extreme to the other, and guess what ......................??????????? nobodies opinion is necessarily wrong or right because it is just that........ an OPINION....!!!!! Smile

And "People need to keep their noses out of other peoples business." again an opinion ............ Smile

That's my last thoughts on this subject. Ignore

I definitely like this site. Here we are discussing a very personal subject and it's going quite well. It's getting discussed and no one has gotten out of line. I love it... Very Happy This is a tough subject to be talking about in the first place. Not sure what it has to do with hunting, but it sure shows the great diversity of the hunting community...

Handloader and 1895zz are absolutely on target... Smile

Who's mind do you think we could change on this abortion thing? No ones. Opinions may be adjusted, but really never changed...Opinions are a necessary part of our free culture and society. Without them no one would have any idea how we think, which way we want to go or how to get there. It gives a good basis of both extremes and helps to find a middle ground that can (grudgingly) form growth and progress within the system...

No matter how I believe I will leave up to the woman and hope she has and uses good judgment and considers the father in her decision...

Bushmaster,

Yes its a hunting site but we seem to have covered all of the other "issues" that are in day to day life, such as immigration and the like, so I really didn't think this was so far off when I originally posted it. Smile
