I know that I have read a post here that described Burris scope rings to be exceptional, but I cannot find it.
There are three questions here:
1, Are Burris rings that good and which model is the best. (this is for the rebuild I am doing on the Rem 700 7MM Mag)
2. I think it would be great to have quick detach rings. Does anyone here use them? If so why, and if not why? Why do you like / hate them?
3. Are quick detach rings really accurate enough to remove the scope and still be "0" when reattached?
I think it would be great to have a couple scopes, for different applications, zeroed and ready to go with detachable mounts.

I have a set of Browning rings and bases on my A-Bolt .22 rimfire.
They are actually Burris with the Browning name on them.
Can’t say there’s anything wrong with them, never had a problem, they went on just like their supposed to.
My thoughts are you can’t go wrong with any of the quality steal pieces on the market. (Burris, Leupold, Redfield)
I used a lot of the Redfield bottom screw rings in the past. Make for a nice clean look. Can be a pain in the a$$ getting them on and everything squared up though.
I recommend lapping steal rings. Some of the Burris rings come with a insert that takes the place of lapping. I’ve never used them because I don’t like the idea behind them. I had a set of rings one time that must have had a lip on them. The edges would have been the only thing in contact with the scope had I not lapped them and I would have never known.
Another set would have provided less than a ¼ coverage on the scope.
I have Warne detachable base and rings on my muzzleloader. I take the scope off every time I clean it.
After I mounted the scope I went to the range to test POI changes.
I got it sighted in and preceded to take the scope off and back on with each shot. I never missed hitting a 2 inch orange dot at 100 yards.
My dad did the same thing with a set of Leupolds on his muzzleloader.
Actually he probably did better.
Dad also has two rifles with the Leupolds on them. He’s had the scopes off at different times never to have a POI change.

I've tried the Burris Z rings and don't like them for use with heavy recoiling cartridges since the scope moved in them even when they were tight. They work fine with light recoiling cartridges and they don't mar the scope at all.
As for QD rings, I use bunches of them on Encore and Contender barrels and yes, you can remove and reattach a scope with no loss of zero. QD rings make gun cleaning easier, it's easier to pack for a trip, if a scope breaks, another can be easily attached and you can get 1 or 2 really good scopes and switch them between rifles. The ones I use the most of are by Warne.
I tried Leupold QD rings on a 375 H&H Magnum and they didn't stand up to the recoil. I use Talley QD rings on a 458 Lott and have had no problems with them.

I'm using some Burris rings and they're working. I just got some Burris QD rings to use on a Marlin Guide gun but haven't even had time to zero the scope yet, much less test the "on / off/ on" results.

I haven't used the Burris mounts and rings but have used Leupold QRW rings on my AR-15's and NEF's. When removing and remounting the scope I have found that the zero is usable even though there is a very slight difference in impact with the process. Works great for hunting but I would use a permanent setup for paper punching matches.
