24.5 GRNS AR2206 50GRN -55GRN PILL is my magic potion
if you can get hold of some give it a whirl.
its a soft shooting load in my rifle and shoots accurite and hits em hard enough.

Both my mate and I used to use AR2206 Elvis, but we have moved over to AR2208 (Varget)...27 gr (1/2 a grain below max) and it is very accurate and a baby to shoot. Another powder you can try is ADI BM2...but not as good as 2208 in my mind.

Of course, you must go through the normal load development process by starting at least 10% lower than max and working up, looking for pressure signs.

Cheers, Vince

Its good to hear you have switched over to Varget with good results because I have a large stock of it. I like to try all possibilities before I go out and try another powder. I stopped reloading for my M&P because its doing so well accuracy-wise with inexpensive factory ammo. I'm now reloading for my new AR with longer VLD bullets and searching for the magic combination. My .270 has been so easy to reload and get great results. The .223 has been much more challenging so far. Come to think of it, I went through 6 powders before I foundn the one my .270 liked the best. hmmm.

Well I tried Varget in my .270 and it didn't do very well so I need a mix. Also, tried Varget in my .45-70 but the powder wouldn't all burn and left grains in the barrel. So, alls I have left to load powder with is for my .223. When you have 2 cages of it, its hard to justify going out and buying other powders to try.

fair enough mate. you just need to shoot some more so you can use it up faster, sounds like a plausable excuse to get out to me.
