A friend of mine who I've know for a few years now but never met face to face. Was able to come down for a few days this week from Ohio with his wife and daughter. They had never been out this way before and it was nice to met them face to face. He and I went hunting a few nights and man was it hot and full moon. I told him it was not the best time to hunt. But you take what you can get LOL. He never hunted the way we do down here. We used my brother's hunting rig AKA "PackRat35". I don't know who had more fun him hunting on top of the rig or me watching him LOL. That's what I like about these sites. You get to talk to people from all over the world. And if you are lucky you get to meet them and go hunting. The coyotes and hogs were on vacation as well. It's so green and the grass is so tall that the coyotes would have to be on a rig as well to see them LOL. So he shot a few jackrabbits. He couldn't believe how fast they were LOL. Once he got the bbl warmed up on his 223 Rem. Stevens 200. He went to town on them. He wants to come back when it's cooler. I hope to make and meet new friends here. To me that's what hunting is about. Sharing good times with good friends. Here are a few pics.

Had a heck of a good time Drew AKA "stoneshaper".

vmaster59, thanks for sharing your experience and posting pictures. Sounds like you had a great time. Isn't it amazing to see Texas so lush and green at the end of July!

vmaster, "packRat35" is one super-sweet rig. That really looks FUN. glad you had a great time. Thanks for the photos.

Hunting here in the thick woods of New England is about the opposite of what you are doing. And here in MA where we are regulated to death, we can't even use a spotlight like that to observe game, much less shoot with them.
The coyotes are doing very well here - no lights, no electronic calls allowed. (But we can hunt them with dogs.)

Vmaster, sounds like a good visit! I found it doubly interesting because I just met an old friend for the first time last weekend too. I used to spend a lot of time in AOL's "Gun Control" chat room (which was about 90+% pro-gun) and "met" him there in the mid 90s. We've been talking online ever since but never met face to face until last Sunday. As I suspected all along he is a great guy and I'm looking forward to getting together with him again sometime.

If you've never been on one it's cool. Really cool in the winter LOL.

A great visit by the looks of things vmaster. Nothing better than getting together with mates who share a common interest. I would dearly love to visit many of the guys that I have met on here.

Love the spotlighting rig too...so much so I am going to have a "closer look" at the viability of a similar setup.

Cheers, Vince
