Howdy. that is a black drum caught at the bay bridge tunnel chespeak bay in VA. That one was 77lbs we can get them in the DEL bay as well they run bigger there. The average size we catch in VA is about 50lbs to 80lbs there fun to catch. There not the best fish to eat but there ok kinda tastes like pork we scale them with a garden hoe or a claw hammer there scales are like guitar picks any how glad you liked the pic. When i catch them i use broom handles cut in half with a hole drilled through one end and tie 10 ft of rope through the hole. Then gaff them and stick the broom handle through the gills and out the mouth and then tie them to a cleat on the boat ( 50 inch fish takes up a lot of space) here is a tag for the pic www.huntingnut.com/ind...mp;pid=103

Holy crap, that thing is huge.
We ceartainly dont get fish that big here in Arizona, except maybe catfish, and thats a rarity. Anyways thats an amazing critter congrats on the catch.
Lets see some more fishing pics. By the way nice boat.

Howdy. After posting that pic i got to thinkin about the first one i ever caught. Those fish make a druming sound guess thats how they got there name. Well i caught my first one and had him tied to the cleat and i guess he nuzzled up against the boat and cut loose with a drum. All you heard was BONG and the whole boat vibrated i didn't know what was going on it scared the crap outa me he did it another time or two and i finaly figured out it was the fish, i thought sumptin was coming to get me. I kept thinkin why don't i have a gun on this boat. Just thought i would pass the story along.

LOL! Reminds me of my old scoutmaster who got up way way early one morning to go fishing here in Utah. Fishing then had a starting hour so he got there early to get his spot, then laid down in the boat to catch some sleep. He was awakened in sheer terror to screaming and nearly fell out of the boat... seems a Great Heron landed on his boat keel while he was sleeping and let out a huge squawk Laughing

Man for fish that big I'd think about it. I've been on several alaska fishing trips where the charter captain pulled out a gun to shoot a big halibut. Always amusing (they like to use .410's for it it seems).

Howdy. I found another pic of a black drum this one was 72lbs. Thats my little girl in the pic Very Happy . Your aloud one fish per person on the boat in VA so we hooked it on her rod but i was afraid it would pull her out of the boat so i reeled it in for her. Boy was she tickled, i had a hard time getting her to stand by it for the pic (lol) the thing is bigger than she is. Here is a tag for the pic www.huntingnut.com/ind...mp;pid=115
