Hi, I'm new here, but I decided to post a picture of my first deer that I got this year. By the way this is a great site.

Well, my dad and I were both hunting on opening day and it was around 4:30 p.m. my dad was at the top of the ridge, and I was down further, overlooking both sides of the ridge. All at once this buck came over the other ridge down into the draw that I was overlooking, and he stopped aproximately 250-300 yards away, and then I shot and missed and he started walking towards me! He stopped long enough that I shot again and then he went down. I made the shot with a 7mm Rem. Mag. with 139 grn. Hornady bullets and 64 grains of RE-19 and a velocity around 3050 fps.

I would make an observation, that while you seem like a young hunter you really sound pretty knowledgable about things, expecially when you start saying things like "7mm Rem. Mag. with 139 grn. Hornady bullets and 64 grains of RE-19 and a velocity around 3050 fps." Smile

Where did you learn reloading from? I didnt know anyone who was into it back when I got interest. I bought a "partner press" kit for $90 and spent alot of careful time reading the included Speer before I got the nerve to reload my first case. Pretty funny in retrospect. Good to see new people comming into the sport.

Nice shoot'n there young man! That's a fine buck in my book for sure. Congratulations and be sure and give your dad a big hug for making the time to take you hunting and shooting. My hats off to you both.

I've been reloading now for about 6 months, which I got interested in after I realized I could tailor the loads to a specific gun another thing I liked was the cheaper cost of reloading. Then I read "The ABC's of Reloading and that got me off to a good start, and from then on I've been having a lot of fun. Very Happy I really enjoy reloading and shooting.
