Made my first trip out shhoting sod poodles today, and what a time. Shoot 139 of the devils and left 73 to live another day, not counting those dispatched with the 22 LR. This was probably the best day I've had shooting prairie dogs in AZ! For awhile there you almost thought you were in South Dakota.

minerfile, how did you stay cool? I was working in PHX this week and the temps were triple-sticks or higher. Whas was you caliber and rifle? What was your average range and max range shots?

Is there a season on Prairie Dogs, or are they considered vermin?

139 is a good days shooting Miner...well done mate.

Cheers, Vince

Started out with a 22 Hornet and then switched up to a 222 and finished out with my 22-250. I shot dogs out to 350 yards or so and made 3 set ups for the day. Went back out the next days and shot 95 more. Temps up here in the White mountains have only been in the low 90s so not too bad. Heading over to Seligman tomorrow to meet up with my hunting partner to shoot some more over there over the weekend. A good time will be had by all!

The coyotes especially! I assume there wasn't much left from the 234 vermin you exterminated. Or was there enough for a few meat-pies?

that reminds me of "moose turd pie"
the story goes that out in a mining camp they had trouble keeping a cook so the rule was if you insulted the cooking the chefs hat got rammed on your head so to speak... well the latest cook was getting sick of the job and no one would complain about his cooking so he went for a walk and gathered up some "natural jellybeans" and baked them in a pie....
he dished the pie up and one miner screamed out
" holy shite its moose turd pie!!!!" he then realised the consequences of the statement so quickly added "but it sure tastes good"
