Does anyone have any good loads that they area using for the Rem. Ultra Mag. I just got an HS Precision rifle chambered in the 300 Ultra and I discovered I don't really want to pay factory prices for ammo. The load data that came with the rifle shows 96gr of RL25 behind a 180 gr. Nosler ballistic tip bullet. The test target read out shows a .30 MOA group with that load, but it sounds a little hot to me from reading other reload data.

This was not really my idea of the best caliber, but the rifle was "used" (the original owner said that it had never been fired) and the owner "made me an offer that I couldn't refuse" on the rifle and a Leupold tactical scope. I just shot it for the 2nd time today and it shot Remington factory 180 gr. Scrocco very well, a 3 shot .31 group at 100 yds. Great shooter for such a big boomer with factory hunting ammo Sniper I think I'll keep this one Cheers

Boy, if it ain't broke don't fix it (IMO). Doubt you will get much better than that.

I'm not looking to get any better groups, just cheaper ammo. I'll go broke paying $35.00 for 20 rounds of ammo like I am now.

I couldn't agree more with ghall there. Although, I have had good luck with Hornady Interbonds 180 gr. Loaded with 92 gr. of RL25. I used a Win Mag primer and Rem cases.

200 Gr Accubonds and 92 gr of RL 25. Gives me 3210 fps and great accuracy.

THanks for the input.
I ended up settling on 90gr of RL22 with a 175 Match King for accuracy. I got a 5 shot group at .305 in. I don't think that there is any way I can shoot better than that. I'm guesstimating that the round is coming out at about 3100 FPS.

I currently shoot a rem 700CDL with a 26" barrel and have found several loads you might find useful. All loads were with a Fed 215, Rem cases, and OAL of 3.67. All the following consistantly shoot under an inch @ 100yds.

165 Nos Part, 101.0 Ramshot Mag., 3457 FPS Avg.
165 Nos Part, 103.0 Retumbo, 3532 FPS Avg.
180 Nos Accubond 98.0 Retumbo, 3329 FPS Avg.
180 Nos Part, 100.0 Retumbo, 3396 FPS Avg.
200 Nos Part, 106.0 H870, 3251 FPS Avg.
200 Nos Accubond, 104.0 H870, 3205 FPS Avg.

This last load has become my favorite for use here. I have yet to recover a bullet. The last caribou I shot was lasered at just over 420 yds. The bull (57" main beams) was quartering to me, the bullet landed at the back edge of the R shoulder and exited the left hip. One note of caution, the loading manuals list higher charges which I don't use. My paticuler rifle even shoots the factory ammo over 150 FPS faster than advertised by remington when tested with an Ohler 33 and a 35P. The results are the same. If you have the speed you obviously have pressure regardless of the signs or the manuals.

According to Quickload you're getting 3230 fps at 59.7K pressure. Nice accuracy load but you need one for hunting other than coyotes.
