Managed a short trip before the rain set in & finally got the scope set where POI with the 130's is 1" high @ 100yds.
This put the 90gr bullets 4" high @ 100.
Fed up with punching paper, I set some clays out at 200yds.
Loaded four rounds of 90gr &first shot was 6" high - forgot to adjust the scope.... Embarassed
Dialled in 3MOA less elevation & took out 3 clays with 3 shots.
Loaded up 3 rounds with 130gr bullets, returned the scope to zero & took out 2 of the other clays - the third one I had accidentally broken out the middle 2" when setting them up & my mate watched the impact hit the dirt through the hole. Very Happy

Damn' but this is an accurate rifle for the price & intended use.

this is proving to be one seriously impressive rifle straight out the box.

English Mike, what rifle did you get?

I've spent the past couple of days shooting a new left handed Ruger Hawkeye M77 MkII whilst developing loads for it.
This is the stainless steel with laminate stock version.
The trigger is WAY better than the old one right out the box - maybe 4lbs pull which is fine by me for a hunting rifle.
So far it has shot well everything I've fed it, with five shot groups of 1"-1.5" @ 100yds.
Oddly for a .270 the 150gr Sierra bullets have been the ones producing the tightest groups, rather than the 130gr offerings.
Conditions have been less than good & hopefully tomorrow's range session will be less windy, as I'm ready to try out some 90 & 100gr varmint loads.
For a rifle costing less than $600 I can't think of a better buy.
I think this one.

In 1952 I purchased a Winchester Mdl 70 270. As a teanager I had no problem with the recoil. That rifle shot pronghorn, mule deer, elk, and unwonted critters out in the country where I grew up. As a teen ager my first 300 yard shot killing a prairie dog was made with the 270 rifle. Over the years I have tryed out various big game cartridges but I think that the 270 Win is one of the best.
