Makes me hopeful we can get past the group stage, if only as second to NZ.

Yeah...but don't hold your breathe waiting mate...the big guns are out there...France, NZ, South Africa, Australia.

Then again mate, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Give them the support...it can only help them.

Cheers, Vince

One thing I noticed when I was married to an Aussie and traveled to Oz a lot, Rugby was not nearly as popular as Aussie Rules Footy was in Victoria.

I do have a question for the aussies though. Everytime I went to Oz, I always bought a couple pairs of Blunies. Either from Rays Tent city, or from the Melbourne market. So I had a stock pile of around 23 pairs. Yes, I like em very much. But I have noticed that they dont like water. Evertime I have worn a pair in the snow, or even in the creek or heavy rains, the insole comes out, and on some the shank and complete sole comes apart. I thought Blundstones were suppose to be tough shoes. Thank god I didnt pay the high US price for them I guess. They are comfy and great boots, just dont seem to be made for outdoors in the wet. Not the ones I have at least. But with 15 pairs left, I still can have a new pair every year for a while.
My question is, has anyone else had these problems with their blunies?

not that problem but we found them very hard if you spent the day on your feet, our John Bulls are alot softer on your feet.

Blunies make (or used to-they are now made in China) great boots. It depended on the style of boot, and the use it was manufactured for, as to how well it withstood wear and tear. My daughter is/was a Chef and she used Blundstones exclusively and never had any problems with them, although the ones she bought were marked "oil and ??? resistant" (can't think of the whole blurb).

You are right Elvis...John Bull makes a magnificent work, and every day, boot...no two ways about that mate. I had a pair when I was in the Army and they were great.

Another awesome boot is made by RM Williams, although they too are now made in Asia, but to a standard I believe. Only problem with the RM's is the price...it's horrendous. I have a pair of RM Williams Santa Fe cuban heel riding boots that I bought in 1969 and they are still great boots, albeit fairly well worn now.

The other team werent too bad either.

Just about all of the matches are being played past midnight here. So I have been unable to watch them as I must get some sleep. But I've been watching the recordings I've got, have not watched the last days or so games.

Based on the games so far, though, I'm hoping Canada can win the next one with France, and since it will be very late Saturday night (well very early Sunday morning), I should be able to watch it live.

If what they taught me in math class is to be believed, just based on the point spreads between the teams, if NZ beat Japan by a spread of 12, but Japan lost to France by only 2.3, then, stands to reason that Tonga's 4.1 spread between them and NZ, means that Canada's 1.25 spread from Tonga, might give Canada a chance at besting France. Very Happy

But it also means that Canada will do relatively badly with NZ once the time comes. Sad

There is always hope.

Pool C already looks like it will go to the Aussies and Ireland anyways. One was bound to lose to the other one.
