Hey all, pretty new here but I am wondering if anyone hunts pdogs or coyotes in northeast colorado. RIght now I'm in ft collins and am wondering if anyone knows of places to hunt up here because i'd sure like to get out. Also, along the lines go of prariedog hunting I hear in colorado everything east of I25 is illegal but coyotes are fair game year round so long as you have a small game permit. Any public grounds even in souther wyoming close to the border? Thanks a ton.

I live around fortmorgan colorado.
just getting back into hunting mylsef.
when I was in texas, alot more hunting was done.
I know a copule of poeple around here that do alot of hunting. coyotes, pdogs, and other stuff.
most of them go on private land, iether relitives or good friends that they know.
most of the public land around here is not real good for hunting. now colorado has that habbitat stamp you have to get just to get on any wildlife public access.

fishingdude –
Hunting prairie dogs east of I-25 is NOT illegal in Colorado – you just have to be a designated varmint control person for the ranch you are on. Which means no shooting them on public land.
There are coyotes all along the Platte and huntable public areas to boot – get a ‘Colorado Fishing 2006’ guide for a listing.

Very little of the eastern plains of CO is public anyway so the point of shooting prairie dogs on it is mute. In order to shoot them on private land you must be an agent of the property. Supposedly the 'agent' is shooting them to protect the property from damage brought on by pds. I shoot them for fun but 'I 'll never tell'.
Hi all just registered here but I have a pretty good background in pd shooting in eastern CO.
My sister farms several thousand acres and gives me access to whereever there are pds. It is not like the vast pd fields of SD but excellent shooting exists ....you just have to find it. I can usually get off a couple hundred rounds a day during April and May but I shoot them whenever I am out there regardless of the time of year.
Coyotes can be found nearly anywhere on the eastern plains and you will have little trouble getting permission to shoot them.
