chambered is right I have alot more of brass in my garage that hasn't split then has, I was just acknowledging an anomaly that occurs in this less then perfect world we live in. This all probably has zero impact in our everyday lives its just entertaining conversation.

I just regestered as a member here to say to Suzanne that the old ammo she had that split was not unusual for some of the first ammo that Federal loaded for the 32 H&R Mag.
I still have some cases that split from the first boxes of ammo I bought for my Ruger Single Six back in maybe 1985~6.
Don't know why I kept them but they are still here.
I found on the ones I have that there appears to be a galled area on the inside of the case. Being a Tool & Die maker I thought someone at the case manufacturing line didn't catch the problem and the thin area at the galled spot just let go.
Never had anouther case split like those. But they look exactly like the ones in your pic.
Could not even guess how many rounds have gone thru that gun.
still love it. My boys have put alot of rounds thru it to.

Thanks Mulking that was good of you to send that along. Hope you hang around some more we've got lots of trivia to learn, and Vince will set you up with a beer at the stump. Yeah I'd say the brass I was using was pretty old, I've since gotten some new brass and don't have any splits. It is a way cool fun gun to shoot. Brass is sort of seasonal and you have to buy it when you see it, or you'll be waiting a while. I think Starline is the only company making any.

I have 500 new Starline brass for the 32 Mag waiting for me to load up now.
That was how I found this site yesterday as I was searching for any new loads that might be fun to try.
Does look like a fun place.
Still checking it out.

Welcome mulking, grab one of Vince's beers and pull up a stump around the campfire. Starline brass is excellent.
