Do you trust the H&R-action? I once tried it on a .270 Win and it ruined all my cases. Because it's only locked at the bottom, I had the impression that during the shot, the action opened a little on the top (and closed again when the pressure was down).
So for me no H&R anymore.

But for the rest: you made some mighty handsome rifles. I too like such a pistol-grip. Very nice things too...

Aloysius,

I am very conservative with which cartridges I choose to chamber and build around the H&R...

I build alot of 30-30's, 30-30 Ackley Improved, 7X30 Waters, 250 Savage Ackley Improved, 7X57 Mauser Improved and such and try to limit the working pressures of the cartridges to 45,000 psi or less...

I also chamber for the 444 Marlin based cartridges that are necked down as far as 6mm and with these rounds having minimum body taper, they can be loaded to higher working pressures because of the reduced backthrust against the standing breech face...

As far as the H&R goes, this one in 270 Winchester will shoot a frame loose faster than any other cartridge that H&R chambers for....

You all always surprise me with these groupes you put down on distances I even don't see my target anymore...
your H&R in 22 K-Hornet groupes far better than my Anschütz in .22 Hornet, alltough my Anschütz is a 'Jagd-Match'...
I can assure you that looking at your groupes don't give me much confidence in what I do and can do...
lucky we have our St-Hubertus who helps a hand when we aim at game Smile

I guess these 22 Hornet groups are about average for the little cartridge...

One advantage to the H&R, at least with cartridges like the 17 HMR, 17 Hornady Hornet, 22 Hornet and 22 K-Hornet is that these cartridges are "rimmed" and in a break open single shot, these cartridges will shoot as good as or better than a lot of bolt action rifles in the same calibers...

Also, the barrels are 1 1/16" in diameter and are Match chambered - meanining tighter chamber dimensions with a more precise "throat and lead angle". I also no NOT mass produce guns and as such, I have full and complete control over the building process and if it's not done right, it don't get done....

As always, very nice work! I kinda hate to admit it but I like that gaudy yellow/green stock. I was looking at one similar to that, in orange and gray, for a 10/22.

Only problem with that stock, Pumpkinslinger, was I needed sunglasses to look at it.

Nice work [as usual]

I do have to confess that it does have a certain appeal, infact in blaze orange and say that green? it would be a great stock for hunting during the roar/rut Smile that 444/6.5 looks like a great round, very nice proportions.
are you not a fan of, or is there some reason you dont show anything with the Baikal action?? I am a fan of them as we have a .12ga .410 and a 7.62x39mm in these and they are simple and easy to use once I worked out to carry them uncocked for added safety(yes I do miss the exposed hammer) Sad
