Howdy Bubba. Welcome to the HuntingNut. I don't load for the 300wby so I'm not much help on loads. For bullets if your wanting 1 load for muleys and elk I would use a 180gr bullet you would have more energy for the elk and should get less meat damage on the muley. I don't no how the sst's perfom on larger game but would suggest Nosler partitions, Accubonds or the Barnes Triple Shock they all have very good reps. I just got a box of the 180gr Triple Shocks I'm gonna try in the 308 Norma Mag when I can get to the range .
Joe

.300 WBY is my primary caliber I shoot 180 gr swift scirocco's.

One of the advantages of the Barnes Triple Shock is that a lighter bullet can be loaded and be as effective as the heavier conventional bullets. The 165gr TSX out of a 300 Win Mag, 30-06, has been an amazing performer on big bull elk with total body penetration. These two rifles have taken several bull elk last season and belong to some hunting buddies of mine.
Too, the TSX will usually provide the highest velocity per bullet weight when compared to other bullets, in most applications. That gives flatter trajectories, less hold over at distance and superb results.
