For a long time I thought that I was the only one shooting one. But after viewing several other forums, I finding that there are quite a few .257 Shooters. What a great old Classic Caliber, and with modern load data and bullets it is even better than ever. No way would I trade mine off for any reason. Just my thoughts on a true and excellent Classic. tr

moose2: count me among the blessed that own a 257 Bob! In fact, I've got two of them, although one got the Ackley treatment. But, both are in strong actions that allow the full potential of the cartridge to be realized. I like the parent cartridge, too, the 7X57 and the smaller sibiling, the 6mm Remington.

Powerful and efficient this family covers most needs for North America and have only grown better with today's bullets and powders, as you mentioned.

It is a pure joy to shoot! My son took his first deer with the .257 Roberts at the age of 9. I have always liked the ballistics options with the 25 caliber bullets. And you are right; when loaded properly with a strong action, it is a real performer. Mine is a Browning A-Bolt, but they have since dropped that caliber from the line. What a shame. I'll never give this gun up.......ever.

I too truly love my .257 Bob. Love Have used it for Whitetails for the last 20 years. I have one of the early Browning High Power rifles made by FN. One of the most accurate, easiest shooting guns I own. Mine just loves the Hornady Custom ammo, along with some select handloads.

Back in the 1970s I wanted a .257 Roberts, but could not find one. I took a sporterized '98 Mauser in .30-06 to Faligs in Pittsburgh and got it rebarreled into a .257 Roberts. Still have the rifle and like it very much. I managed to get a pair of Winchester Model 70 featherweights from various used gun racks. Classic cartridge that deserves to be more popular. All the best...

Yet another vote for that most excellent caliber, the 257 Roberts. Smile
BOB?? He's your UNCLE! Very Happy

Good to shoot, and I am closing in on a load or three that are very accurate, standardizing with H4350 powder. Da Roberts 4 ever! Viking

I found a 257 roberts at the local gun show a while back and if I didn't already have the 25-06 I might have brought that one home. I don't need 2 quarter bores. Smile
