What a great idea!
it could be enhanced if you put a sock on the end with the shoe and maybe a shredded piece of navy blue or black trouser left on the bone with dried katsup liberally applied.
A well placed sign that reads:, "no trespassing" may reinforce the idea that strangers are not welcome.

Yeah, I reckon this would work with Samantha mate...for all of the 5 minutes it would take her to reduce the bone to nothing and turn it into overnight “barker eggs” (dog droppings). But the thought is definitely there.

I have a good friend in NY state with a Pitty, and he's affraid of his own shadow. Will lick you to deaths and beat you with his tail - lethal weapon.

Just don't go into the house wearing a baseball hat. We think that he was hit by someone wearing a baseball hat. My friend adopted him.

Yep, you’re right mate...Sam is a big softy as I found out when visiting. She always hopped up and laid in my lap looking for a scratch and pat.
