Saturday night hunting is the only hunting where if you have a tag you cannot partake.

Damn…I’d forgotten how uncomfortable and painful (afterwards) it is to have a tooth extracted.

Yesterday I had to have a tooth pulled because an abscess was starting to erode the bone in my upper jaw. This was the tooth that I had the Root Canal done in Fort Worth TX back in 2018. The unfortunate part is this tooth was the left rear support for my chrome (now titanium nitrate plated - highly polished, it looks like gold) denture. This means I have a number of sharp edges on the back part of the denture now digging in to my tongue, exacerbating the pain…BUGGER, I can’t win…couldn’t win a king hit in a pub brawl! Oh well, only a month until I get the “new” denture.

Sounds like you need a whiskey or six to numb the pain Vince.

What a damn fine idea…and I have a couple of bottles of a fine Single Malt sitting there…and a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue.

Wintertime is here.im in middle of our seasonal vacation time. The rain has been persisting down most of the week,no chance of drought I guess. Still dark till 08:00 and getting dark by not long after 17:00 . Went out with mate and his dogs couple of days ago.managed a good eating pigs( which I carried 1.5kms back to truck) and mates black dog even caught us dozen possums to pluck fur off!!! It's selling for about $120 a kilo now so $7- 10 per possum makes it worth doing. They sure are hard critters to dispatch, they almost zombie like with will to survive.three subsonic .224 holes through body/chest and single .44 subsonic hole lengthways and possum still hung on up in pinetree for over ten minutes.trying to be quiet with subs is ok with brain or spine hits but hopeless if not. After pig was caught I used supersonic 52grn Speer hps....yeah they work good lol. Fun day out and good exercise for me.sure is easy to stay home and pile on weight

Probably the same as they use rabbit fur here in Australia mate…to make fur felt hats. We have a company over here that makes outstanding fur felt hats…Akubra Hats…very expensive, but magnificent quality.

Akubra Fur Felt Hats

All sorts apparently.mixed with merino wool it makes very light n warm jumpers etc. I now they were using the fur somehow in nylon mills as it has no static. There is still market for pelts but that's a bit more work and needs to Scratch be tidy Scratch .after dog has scragged possum out of blackberry bush and carried it's carcase 50 yards back to you,it's no longer....in pristine condition Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Haha Haha Haha Haha

Tanning a skin is a bit of work mate, no two ways about that. When you sell a pelt, is it sold ‘wet’ or tanned? Do they expect the pelt to be flat or for you to have skinned it as a ‘tube’ without opening along the belly?

I used to sell them green.eg straight off animal. Can be sold as dried flat skin, our family did thousands like that when I was just a wee nipper.tv boxes full got sent off to auction. Was very good money in the late 70s. Have mate trapping now,he also has buyer for carcasses plus rabbits n hares. All going into pet food. Bit of paperwork etc but it puts a bit of cream on the top. Good coin if you have access to good property and the time and willingness to put in the yard work.
