Pumpkinslinger...I have a question for you...Warm enough for you?

Talked to my brother on the Arizona/california/Mexico boarder. It's 114* there. It's a balmy 90* here.

Be careful...

Yesterday it was 97°, 44% humidity, heat index of 102. Right now it's 86°, 72% humidity and heat index of 101. I walked around the yard yesterday and it appears that the heat finished off my volunteer blackberries.

Last few days its been rather nice, quite a bit cooler... but its headed back to the 100's soon. We've got some pretty major wildfires going on, hopefully they wont get too big.

We have two big active fires right now in state, both over 27,000 acres and growing.

Our biggest ever wildfire was 363,000 acres Shocked

Damn…that’s a lot of forest and natural habitat for native critters…and deer mate. Worst part is people losing their houses and often livelihoods…not to mention the terrible loss of life.

Had the day off of work, wife wanted to take a canyon ride in the side by side. We went from 5000ft elevation to about 9500 in about 2 hours and actually found some snow fields that hadn't melted yet. It was a nice high 70s afternoon where we stopped and ate lunch at an old abandoned cabin in the pine trees.

The ride home kept getting hotter and hotter... reaching 97 when we came out of the canyon near home.

That would be an amazing time mate that I’m sure SWMBO thoroughly enjoyed. I can’t come to grips with it being around 100°F around your start point and there still be snow further up the mountains…really weird.

Its common to see snow on the mountain tops until the end of July even in triple digit temps. If the previous winter was hard with heavy snowfall, snow can last into August. Elevation really changes air temps though, and we were really high up

2020, Covid... we had fresh snow in the mountains in August. That was the first time in my life I can ever remember August snow. Before that snow any other month of the year at high elevations was common.

In the spring, if it warms fast... some people snow and water ski in the same day... just to say they did.

I've also seen people pack skis in into canyons to snow ski in July. This year however, its melting fast.

We don’t get any snow where I live. It gets cold enough for the occasional snowfall, but only overnight. Frosts are not all that common here, although ice on the cars has happened maybe half a dozen times this year, but it is gone by about 8:30am. I haven’t seen snow for 50 years…I’d love to have a ‘play’ in some decent snow. Last time I skied was on my honeymoon 50 years ago.

That is insane heat mate. I hope the humidity wasn’t high with it…would be unbearable.

The humidity was high and I would take the dog out (Yellow Lab). She would go outside for 10, maybe 15 mins and then in. Thanks for A/C.

Humidity sucks... the only time its acceptable is flying from +100F weather into Alaska stepping off the plane into cool 70's temps and lovely high yet pleasurable humidity.

I love that feeling... the reverse blows as well though I guess. Leaving that lovely Alaska environment and stepping off the plane in Salt Lake City into the blast furnace of late summer, LOL
