Went op-shopping with SWMBO (as you do), when I spot this mysterious archery bag hiding behind the counter like it’s in witness protection.

I ask, “What’s in the bag?”
Staff says, “Oh, just a bow and arrow set.”
I say, “Cool. I’ll take a look.”
He says, “Uh… I have to cut the cable ties first.”

Cable ties?!
Now I’m fully invested.

Snip snip… unzip…
BOOM inside is a brand-new Pandarus compound bow, still wrapped, plus 12 arrows…
SIX of them with broadheads.
With the arrow holder and trigger release.. all still in the plastic wrapping.

At this point my wallet achieved warp speed.
$50.
FIFTY.
DOLLARS.
That is like $33 in USD!!

I’ve never paid for anything so fast in my life.

Honestly, when the next Australian “gun grab” kicks off, I’ll just be over here quietly going medieval. Very Happy

Damn, you done good Gelan. From what I can see they price from AUD$150 to AUD$350 depending on model.

I have a nice compound bow that is 50-70lb. All I have to do now is learn to shoot it properly then zero the sights. I have an Archery Club near me, but I’ve been told they only allow recurve bows. I asked SWMBO if I could set up a 20m “range” down the side of the house using hay bales as a backstop…I got a resounding NO!!! Shocked Confused wtf Crying or Very sad

You should ask old mate Radar about archery range in town section....I believe a car door may have been perforated lol. Great score on the compound. I briefly tried a recurve for hunting and decided not for me. A compound should've lots more effective but lots more expensive too...you burgled you lol.

geland, now it's starting all over again: practise... practise... practise!!!
and when you think you can handle it, you still need to practise... practise... practise!!!
And first thing to do: put it at low lbs before your shoulder asks you to do so!

It's good for your 'weight' too... arrows don't return on their own... putting up 2 targets facing eachother can make you walk 50 % less. It helps to be smarter and use all your previous experiences when your legs start hesitating and your lungs make you dissy because your heart doesn't get enough blood...

BTW: a crossbow is easier to manage... Smile

I already have a longbow and am quite accurate with it Cool , but the draw does tire me much if I have to hold for a while.
And a huge vintage Olympic compound bow made in 1970's that I am quite scared to draw due to its age Confused
This "modern" bow is much smaller than the longbow and lighter than the old Olympic. Very Happy
I am quite sure this would be a good hunting companion.

@Aloysius Crossbows are not allowed in this side of HongKong Sad

A lot of stuff not allowed here in this side of HongKong, eg. moderators (silencer), semiauto rifles and a bunch of other stuff including paintball gun

Gelan, consider fitting lighted nocks on your arrows mate…makes them a little easier to find in the longer grass. Also, brightly coloured arrows are much easier to find than black or camo (like I bought
