It’s been very quiet in here just recently, but I don’t see that as necessarily a bad thing. Many other Forums are rather active, but when you see the rhetoric and the content of their posts, I don’t necessarily see The Nut being a little quiet a bad thing.
Seeing the posts in The Nut, that are all relevant, the way members interact with one another, no animosity, no aggression, no putting others down, and a willingness to share knowledge, I absolutely wonderful and make this Forum something downright special, a comfortable place to visit, one where you feel respected…especially when you consider that members come from all around the world, with differing personalities and ideals, yet carry the wont to interact pleasantly and with humility.
Well done on creating an environment like this Dallan…it is a huge credit to you mate.

A couple of other local forums I visit, added AI chatbots to it to try and increase chitchat. Now they crosslinked other forums with those forums so you now get cross talk from other sites that are completely unrelated subject wise.
Its an utter train wreck elsewhere.

Oh well we shall just keep on dawdling along. It's great knowing you all are still here and getting out for a shot sometimes. The world is in a pretty bad/ nasty./ Messed up place at the moment.... I can the "why" of it..but it's still a plurry mess.I live in hope it ends soon so doesn't drag more and more of the world into conflict. There are protests here in NZ today, Iranian people saying go get em boys, they are being Israel and the USA in what they saying they trying to achieve.... My heart goes out to all the service folk and the families at home.

Yep, you are right Elvis…things are very messy right now, and I can’t see it improving much any time soon. I’m just thankful that I’m now beyond the age where I can be called up, even with my background, but I do worry about my grandsons and what the future may hold for them. What I do know is, should the war come to Australia, I am ready and very capable of defending our country, as I’m sure most are in NZ and the USA.

Vince, I agree. But the only thing that makes me doubting a bit is the question if my country is still worth to defend... on the other hand I don't see that many foreign governments I realy could admire... they say one gets the leaders one deserves, but IMHO many citizens got governments they have never chosen but are the results of some durty agreements that are never uncovered.
And is the Nut not a great example on how people with total different backgrounds can cooperate? Maybe the answer is the money... in the ancient Greece politician were not paid, it was a duty and an honour to serve the country... as soon as payments occur, corruption also appears...
and now I better be quiet because the word is sometimes stronger than the sword and I'm that old that I don't always remember where I put my sword

Extremely sage words Aloys, and no truer words can be found mate. As for whether or not the country is worth defending…I caste my mind back to times when things were better, living was more pleasant, easier and life was good. It is these times that remind me the country is worth fighting for.
As for Governments…I wouldn’t feed 99% of politicians the days…they are oxygen thieves, agenda driven and are only interested in power and making as much money for themselves as they possibly can, and accruing allowances.
The Greeks had the right idea, but these days, politics is all about making money. No more is it a privilege to sit in Leadership of a country. Our current Government here is a joke. Our PM, and his so-called leadership is a laughing stock right around the world, as are his political party members.
Like you, I best calm down now mate because I don’t have a sword…I think I should get one, and a shield and armour.
