As you may remember my wife died 6 months ago today, and it affected me deeply.

Friends have asked how I am doing, and I'm telling them that I'm OK. That was BS.

At the end of August we had a memorial match at my local club and raised $2200.00 for the Hospice where she died.

That following week it was nasty for me. On the Saturday I was doing so rifle work for a friend, who also happens to be my dr, and he told me I needed counselling, I didn't respond. Returning home from the dog park on the Monday evening I had a bad episode when I admitted that I need help.

I had my 5th session Monday and went to mt first group on Tuesday. This is greatly helping. I'm not alone.

Once I admitted that I needed help, I started to tell my friends that I lied to them and to myself. I told told them that this is no secret anymore and too tell their friends.

I'm glad you've taken the steps you need. That is a loss that is world changing.

That’s great RePete. The first step in fixing a problem like that is admitting to yourself that you have a problem. You have taken that first step and now you can start healing mate. Don’t forget, we are here if you need us.

Sage advice Elvis. Whilst you are talking and remembering the good times you are not dwelling on the loss of a beloved.

This past Thursday (9th) was the 1 year anniversary of Deb's death.
I sat, with my coffee, and looked at Her picture, with tears in my eyes, for 10 - 15 minutes and after that the rest of the day was good.

I hunted in November and shot a doe opening day and of the third day got a 5pt buck. Our camp was tagged out in 6 days with 6 deer.

20th Nov I went to North Carolina to visit Friends for 3 weeks. While there I received a text from my councillor say that her cancer was getting more aggressive and had to leave. Then Christmas with the Grandsons. I waited until Feb this year for a new councillor and the sessions are going great.

I feel, as does my councillor, that I will be stopping my sessions with her and staying with the monthly for a while.

Easter with my Grandsons was the best time I've had in well over a year.

Winter is not over yet as we had snow yesterday and there is more coming in a week or so, but getting closer to shooting again.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Next time you're in NC let me know if you'd like to have a cup of coffee or something.

There’s only one thing to say Pete…keep on keeping on mate…you have it by the ‘short and curlys’ now mate, things will only get better now.

It’s great that you got to go on a hunt, and tagged out , but more importantly, you got to spend time with the next generation, your Grandson.
Remember…time what’s not spent hunting or fishing is time wasted…even better if you can include your grandchildren.
