I am thinking about a guided Cougar hunt, thing is that I can't afford a $5000 bill to do so. Do you all know of anyone that does high success rate hunts that are reasonable?

there are a couple of guys who do it loacally here in Wyoming. Although a self guded one is doable as well. The cougar population around here has exploded in the past few years and there are a few areas where you don't even need dogs. I will check with them to see what the rates are.

Utah has OTC (over the counter) cougar tags in some units. The main cost is hiring the houndmen. It takes +5ish dogs minimum to run big cats (any fewer and the cat will just kill'em). My wifes cousin runs dogs with another guy for hire. I'd guess they'd be in the $2k range to go get a cat. I'll try to get more info on it.
