CH,

Did I tell you I've seen at least 1 coyote IN Oak Ridge now? I'm still chasing down the skinny on the honey hole (couldn't be more than a dozen coyotes up there). Last day of deer season the snow looked like a frickin' coyote express way and they were howling at daybreak.

Some mining company re-opened a mine and parts of it are now posted. Mad I get the permissions all worked out and this will be a good spot this winter (after deer season.

Grimel - hold onto your trousers! Average rent for i bed apt. in my road is $1800 to $2500 a month - utilities extra, plus council tax of $225 monthly! My clay pigeon club membership is $800 per year and a 100 bird sporting round is $60 plus cartridges. Life in London ain't cheap, my man! No charge for the shitty weather though Smile When I asked about the room, I figured YOU might put me up for a while! Ha Ha!

Del,

You can always stay with us, but I'm trying to get you to MOVE here permanent like. I know just how good I have it! The cost to live in NYC, LA, Chicago, etc is just as stupid, San Fransico makes London look cheap - AVERAGE house cost - $700,000.00. The ave Californian can't afford a starter home ($400,000.00) for the first time. I can't see $400,000 for a 1500sqft house.

Not everyone gets to live across the street from a 1000yd range. I figure if you move here, become a citizen I can be sure you'll vote pro 2nd Amend and tell the morons at the club you have to fight every infringment. The trap/skeet shooters are all for "assault weapon", "sniper" rifle, 50 cal, and "hi-capacity" mag bans - it's not my shotgun. Makes me crazy.

Boy, no wonder our economy is suffering. I usually shoot off around 3,200 rounds a year as mentioned in an earlier post. But last year I had a stroke and motor vehicles suspended my license automatically. They do that up here. I couldn't get to the range for the longest time and saved a bundle on reloading supplies while driving my wife batty in the process. I'm okay now, but it was sure a long process recovering. I'd have to set up camp at the range for the remainder of the year to make up the lost time, and I doubt that will happen. Best wishes.

Not counting 22rf/22mag,17hmr, or cheap 762x39 stuff ,the Ak and sks burn through thousands. I would say 1000 to 1500 rounds of the good stuff. 222rem up to my big gun the 358STA. I would say another 2000 plus for the 9mm and another 500 rounds of 44mag in the redhawk and marlin 1894P. Oh ya, at least 500 shots for the Black powder.

I had to re-register, so lost my prior posts, not really a new member, but anyway.

I was running about 15,000 per year or so at one time and tapered off to now anout 8,000 unless I go to Argentina then the total jumps by about 6,000.

Last year I shot over 2,000 prairie dogs. I went out fore a few hours some 50 days last year to get them. I go out in the mornings before it gets to hot and or windy. Darn retirement is hard to put up with. Reload ammo, purchase rimfire ammo, shoot rifles, clean rifles and contact land owners. Collecting varmint rifles and working up test loads for them are a lot of work. Dont know how much ammo I shot last year , dont care. My wife is going into Cabelas today to pick up a brick 1000 ea of CCI primers for me. Got 100 ea 204 Ruger cases that needs primers. Have to use the 221 Fireball or 223 Rem in the morrning.

I have quite a few rifles and pistols to feed, so I try to keep the calibers the same. I reload, but not exclusively. I have two ARs in .223 and one is .308, so I get a lot of shooting time in with my semi's...I normally go to the range 2-3 times a week...good thing my girlfriend is understandable of my passion. The DPMS LR in .308 is my favorite rifle to shoot...it shoots as well or better than any bolt action rifle that I ever owned. I love bolt actions, but I like the quick follow up shots with the AR platform. I just got back into shooting pistols lately, so I am practicing for next season's IDPA competition.

I have a pistol range about 3 miles from my home so lots of cf pistol, about
2000 rds .45
6000 rds .40 S&W
2000 rds 9mm

The nearest rifle range is 80 miles each way so don't get to shoot too much rifle, about
400 rds .308
750 rds .223

Would like to shoot more rifle but the range is too far away.

When i was doing pistol competition, i would estimate that my Glocks, at each caliber (40 and 9mm) 2000rounds x 26weeks and proof loads add 2500 with off season add 1000 for the remainder 26 weeks (and to include rifle, i can't figure an amount right now).
Now though, i shoot nowhere near that, but mostly to keep up on CCW for my 40 and 357, and do more large caliber revolver and 10mm. So here it goes. Very Happy

9mm 500 rds
40 S&W 10000 rds
10mm 2000 rds
357Mag 4000 rds
44Mag 1500 rds
45ACP 300
45GAP 1200
460Mag (so far) 1120 rds
500Mag (not special) 4200 rds
22lr i really can't say because they go in as fast as they go out Wink
223 see 22lr
223WSSM 1300
243WSSM 600
25WSSM 400
7mm Mag 100
7mm STW 100
7mm WSM 750
270 WSM 400
308, 300 WM, 300 WSM (so far) 1800 rds each
325WSM 150
50BMG a few Twisted Evil

If my friends and i didn't reload, our wives would leave us! Wink

I don't have a clue of the total really but I know I burned up 8 pounds of 748 in just my 308s over the last year so that alone is 1200 rnds. Maybe this is one of the things in life better not really accounted for - just enjoyed....

I usually just take a few guns to work with me. Stop off at a few prairie dog towns on the way home and expend 20 to 50 center fire rifle and 200 to 300 rimfire a week.
I know what you guys mean about range fees. The two ranges here charge $10.00 a year for the range with the trap and skeet range and $15.00 a year for the one with the law enforcement range.

Rent is terrible here too, a 1BR with utilities is running around $250.00.

With 4000 people in town it is getting a little crowded too. And having the Big Horn Mountains blocking the sun in the evening makes it way too dark way too early.
Worst of all, a friend of our family sold off some of their ranch and all they have left is 160,000 acres or so along the Powder River. It's disgusting, you can walk all the way across the property in two days now.
