Yeah the pins in my right ankle are a pretty good indicator of when it's going to rain or snow. I think it was a pretty lucky accident for me really, got me the **** out of mining.

When the aches start I think......"what a damn fool I was".......Then go out and jump on a 4 wheeler with my kids and get nuts all over again.

Interesting stuff this, I must be the only person on here that has been shot and stabbed, both by accident, and both due to another person's stupidity. So I will tell about those, not that I have no other incidents.

My high school budy shot me in the left hand with a 22 rifle, decided it would be funny to shoot a can out of my hand while I was putting the can on a rail for a target. Wasn't funny at all. I could see the bullet base in my palm, poped it out with my pocket knife, wrapped a rag around it and continued cursing him for being so stupid.

In case you are courious, being shot feels just like being hit with a heavy hammer, just as hard as a person can hit you.

The old M-16s had a roll pin that held on the sling swivels and the pins tended to work out after a few minutes of the sling moving back and forth freely while walking. Was in a 101st Airborne Division review for General Anthony McAuliffe, he of NUTS fame. The bayonets were all attached and gleaming in the sun. The fellow in front of me started to move and when he did, his top sling swivel came off. The bayonet tip just missed my face and stopped just inside my left nipple at about an inch and a half depth. We got to visit the hospital on that one and I got to pull the bayonett out after telling the guy to freeze when he tried to turn around to see who got hurt. Wiggling the bayonet was not good.

But the worst and dumbest thing I ever saw or heard of was one of my clients, a landscaper, was trimming small trees and lost his balance then jumped off his step ladder. Unfortunately, he had stuck his long handle round tip shovel in the ground next to the ladder. The rounded end of the wood handle entered his groin just to the right of his privates and his feet actually hit the ground..... a very bad picture in the mind's eye. He lived.

never been shot, been slashed with a steak knife, does that count?

hows about was at my best friends house helping chop wood. we were oh about 12-13 years old and was splitting with an ax, a sledge and a couple wedges.. well this one piece was stubborn so, the wedges were placed and a mighty swing of the sledge send a 1/4 inch by 3/8 inch by 1/4 inch hunk of the wedge flying off and smacking him in the top lip, right where the color and the flesh tone come together.. he reached up with a thumb in his mouth and fingers outside and popped it out of his lip.. how about same kid snowball fight hit me with a iceball in the eye scratched cornia man now that HURTS!!! lets see sliding down a hill in cinders with a 10-speed tangled in my feet, slide for 30 yards, road rashed 70% of my body, nothing like being 14 in your underware with cute nurses everywhere.. ya know come to think of it, none of my real good ones have ever came after "hey guys watch this"

How about 56 stitches in my head alone, between the ages of 6 months and 2 1/2. (I have 5 brothers), The dumbest was probably in High School, forgot my homework and was running home to get it. I forgot about the #2 pencil, lead up, in my pants pocket. I assure you that a pencil lead is strong enough to go through your thumb nail and snap off at 3/16 of an inch. It hurt worse when the doctor handed me a jar of iodine an told me to dip it before pulling it out. I still have the line up the middle of the nail.

Sad yeh, i was about 12 or so, i was chopping wood layed down the axe to pick up the wood, my older brother came over and decided to chop more wood, as you can guess, my head was the piece of wood. the axe left a 3"long by 1.5" deep gash in the back of my head. went to the house bleeding , my mom sewed me upon the spot. course in the 50"s we couldn't afford a doctor. still got the scar. i shaved my head once, rdncktink says it looked like a road map. hahaha Very Happy Dave

My dad gave us some stitches when we were young. It hurt more than the injury!

I would rather to have skiped the injuries than have them. I had raise my bed up because in the morning it hurts to get out of it because of a bike wreck I had. I tore most of the tendens off my kneecap and srapped off part of it too. I hit a park car flew over the car slide on the black top that was being graded. The only thing to save my face was I used to wear by grandpa's dog tags. And that was another one of the broken arms.

Any eye injuries I feel for ya. Got hit by a ball when I was in fourth grade and broke the eye socket, I get about a 4 hour heads up when ever it rains thanks to that one, and have a scratch across my eyeball that is now a scar.

Good old head injuries, have had more stiches on my head then I care to count, got a couple of staples once too, now let me tell you when you have a doctor that claims he can't give you drugs for it, it HURTS more then the injury. Shocked

Very Happy once my brother an' i was playing in the field with our bb guns . ya know, cops an' robbers, well he ran outta ammo, picked up a rock an' opened up my left eye brow with it. i shot him 11 times in the hind quarters before he could get to the house. revenge was definitely sweet that day! Laughing dave ps. not the one who used the axe!
