I have a Browning A-bolt with a wood stock and am trying to remove the recoil pad. Thing is is that I can't get the factory pad off, there aren't any screws and it looks like it was glued on. I just want to make sure before I cut it off with a hacksaw and sand the glue off, if there is an easier way.

Thanks

I did this last night with my new A-bolt to put on a limbsaver. There are two microscopic slits in the factory pad that you cannot see. There are two phillips head screws. Bear down hard and don't strip them. Once they are out pull the softer part of the pad away from the hard black plastic. Once this is off, ther is a metal piece. You have to carefully pry it off of the glue working it up in tiny amounts with a flat head screwdriver. Once it is off, you can work the hard plastic piece off of the glue. When taking the hard plastic and metal off be careful not to damage the wood. dont yank on it too bad and gingerly work it. Then just use the same screws to put on your new pad. because the screws have to go in farther with the new pad, put a drop of rem oil in each screw hole to get them in tighter or use the same size, but shorter screws as replacements.
