Hi there,

My first post. I am new to reloading and was doing some searches about what information to track when I got a hit on this site. I downloaded the PointBlank software and I like it a lot.

My questions are not necessarily specific to the software, but in order to get answers that are compatible with it, I thought I should ask here rather than in the Reloading forum.

How do you assign Lot Numbers to your completed cartridges and then how do you keep track of them? I mean, how do you prevent using the same number over again?

Also, do you keep a separate lot number for your brass?
How do you track your brass usage?
What do you put on the cartridge box? Just the lot number or all of the load information?

For now, I've been printing out the load data, folding it up, and then slipping it into the cartridge box.

Would you mind sharing your systems with me? Any reading material you can point me to?

Many thanks,

rekoyl

i use a folder for on the bench with everything in it for the load all the way down to what temo it is when i load it, for in the field i use a small notebook to track how it preforms, where it hits, how clean/dirty it was etc. of course this is for working out a new load.. i use a "lot" number for cleaning afterwards only putting lot number "X" into the tumbler and then giving a real good eyeball for stress etc etc. then i can go back and say ok lot num X had 39.8gr. of this power and none showed signs of over pressure, and this is first reload on it, and it hit there on target, so thats basically it for me, of course i go a little more anal for different thing depending on the firearm..
