I didn't draw in WY or AZ, and it is doubtful in UT. NM due April 9. I've never applied in NM before. They say to look up private land areas, but I don't understand what they are talking about. Does anyone have experience with this? What is EPlus and COER?

EPlus
COER
NM is too 'spensive for me, seeing as I'm a "furriner" so I hunt 2nd rifle in Colorado & don't bother with the draw - I just buy an OTC tag for one of the less popular units down by the CO/NM state line.

I'm a "furriner" too, but I was hoping there was some way to get in cheap. I have been hunting CO for 14 years near Norwood, but I never see anything really big there. At $500+, it's getting expensive there too.

Mike, I checked NM out a few years ago and was guarnteed a private land tag for 350+-, but the catch is the first reply was for $8000.00 and the least was $5000+-. went pig hunting in TX instead. For that kind of money you can still go to Africa and shoot 4-5 animals! Check out your local Elk, Turkey or DU banquets as they have some hunts donated and are auctioned off that way. I got a 7 day, three animal, two hunters for (hold on to yourselve) $$2600.00 ! Ya a steel, and I still feel good about it! I have less than $5000.00 all totaled with shipping taxidermy, european mounts on two and a high dollar kudu. I spent $925.00 as fast as you can fall off and LanD Rover! I am going back if my health holds out! I can get you in touch with the PH In Nambia if wanted. We did the Denver INt'l Sports show for them.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it might be expensive. I'm already scheduled to go to Africa in July. I agree with what you say about hunting there. This will be my 2nd trip. I'll still take you up on the offer about the PH in Namibia. Maybe I'll get a 3rd trip.

No, never have, but I know a couple years ago, they were pulling some big elk out of there, it seems that Utah has taken that position over for the nice bulls. I think NM still has some good elk just South of the CO border. If you do get in, let us know.
