D,

Will I see you there? Just look for the Farm Bureau booth from 3 to 6 pm today. You'll see two good looking ladies and one old gray-haired fa*t with a grin on his face!

his weekend, though, I'm taking it a little easy. I volunteered to man a booth at the county fair for Farm Bureau from 3 to 6 in the afternoon

Now what booth would that be Cary...the Kissin' Booth maybe? I can see it now...."Roll Up, Roll Up to the Kiss Cary Booth...$1 a kiss...anymore than one and we'd probably have to pay you, so don't be greedy" Laughing

I've spent the day running (literally) around with my daughters appy cross mare, and I'm buggered. The daughter was riding in the local Masters Games and her mare was playing up a bit...has been real funny/strange since she last came into season. Luckily I have the knack of calming her down with a few soothing words and a little bit of TLC...she responds quite well to it for me. But now I'm paying the price for running her around, with her trotting (I was running beside her)...my knees are knackered.

Hey...this is the Varmint Hunting Longest Shot thread...damn...I'm way off topic...and I can't think of anything to write...bugger...not good...time to give myself a bag full of uppercuts for disobeying the rules.

Sorry Boss.

Cheers, Vince

The only taker's I'd probably have would be little old ladies and really ugly women!

I was just thinking "Man, we're way off topic, " but then I realized that some of these women would be clasified as long shots. ROFL Or maybe they would fit better as varmint hunting. Especially the one I saw that kept grinning at me with her 3 teeth. When I saw that, I was having trouble finishing my nachos. ROFL

A lot of those ladies comin' up to your booth may just take a long shot...It's a good thing you're married. I'd hate to see you go down because of a long shot...

How's that for staying on topic?? Very Happy

My wife is pretty good at close shots. I've never tried her on a long shot. Shocked

Wifey accuses me of having a 'convenient' memory. Only reason to be out and about at 0500 is hunting. Or beating the heat to get the chores done. Very Happy

My longest first shot kill is now 550 yards on a jackrabbit, with a .243 AI and a 87gr. V-max.

Hmmm...I guess my longest shot was a hair over 450 yards on a moose a couple years ago. I had my 7mm Rem mag shooting 175 grain Grand Slams.
My favorite "long" shot will always be on my very first 4 point Mule. 375 yards with my old 303 British shootin 180 grain factory loads, thats a long shot for a 303.

Shortest shot, 4 yards (not from a stand either). Longest shot, 120 yards...I like to sneak up on them... Very Happy

Bushy,

I figured that you'd be crawling up to them with a knife in your teeth.......but then I had a vision......suppose you have false teeth (now I don’t know if you have), and were crawling up to a wild hog for the kill and your teeth with your knife clinched between them popped out onto the ground and the hog (with acute hearing) heard you and galloped away!!! ROFL ROFL ROFL

Just a thought!

I really don't think I would be worrying about whether I had false tooth or not. I'm not the one with hog problems...And By The Way...How's the eye?

The burning is almost gone. It is only slightly red now. I think I might live. My wife forbids me to use any of my weapons until I've cleaned them. She's certain that I had a bug in the barrel. Heck, I leave two or three of them propped up by the back door (on the inside of the house) and that poor bug was just looking for a home. I will look down the barrel before I do any shooting from now on.

Cary, I put a piece of electrical tape over the muzzle of my long guns if they are loaded. Been considering doing the same on my carry guns.

PS,

That's a great idea, I'm going to start doing that now. It could save an eye.
